Denton E. Bemus, 76, Decatur, died Monday, April 21, 2014, at Lutheran Hospital. He was a former resident of Sydney, Ohio and Louisville, Ky.
Denton was born Dec. 7, 1937, in Sidney to the late Herman H. and Margaret F. (Huccker) Bemus.
He married Amy L. Holly June 9, 1956; she preceded him in death Oct. 15, 2011.
Marion L. Debolt, 81, Fort Wayne, passed away April 20, 2014.
He was born July 25, 1932, the son of Homer and Clara (Linn) DeBolt.
After nearly six months of back-and-forth negotiations, members of the Adams County Regional Sewer District’s board of trustees on Tuesday evening gave their stamp of approval to a 40-year agreement with the city of Decatur for the treatment of sewage to be generated by the fledgling rural sewer district.
Arnolds Drive-In, a staple hot spot in Decatur, will not be closing anytime soon, owner-operator Lori Collier said Tuesday. But changes will be coming to the popular local eatery.
Adams County Engineer Tim Barkey informed the county commissioners on Monday of a recent pre-construction meeting between the county, the Indiana Department of Transportation and contractor R. L. McCoy, Columbia City, to discuss work to be performed on a bridge on Winchester Road over Holthouse Ditch, west and north of U.S. 27.
Barkey said the work, which will require closing the road to traffic, will begin June 8 and should conclude by the end of August.
FORT WAYNE—Again utilizing a less-than-full roster of athletes, the Bellmont Squaws managed to win seven of 16 events Tuesday night and split a Northeast Hoosier Conference triangular girls track meet against Homestead and East Noble.
The host Homestead team amassed 73 points for the team win and had eight blue ribbons on the night while Bellmont settled for 50 points. East Noble, a team that had knocked off Norwell and Carroll last week in girls track, won just only one event and was third at 44.

Unemployment in Adams County continues to remain near historically low levels.
The monthly jobless report issued Monday by the Indiana Department of Workforce Development showed local unemployment during March was 5.7 percent, the lowest in the six years for which the Democrat has kept such records.
MONROE— Adams Central scored all 17 runs after the third inning to win a wild one at the Hangar on Monday night, 17-11, over the Eastbrook Panthers.
The Jets were down 9-0 after Eastbrook broke open the game with seven runs in the top of the fourth and it appeared that they would be on their way to a second loss this season.
