Infant Schwartz, Berne, passed away July 19, 2014, in Fort Wayne.
The baby was born July 19, 2014, to Jacob D. and Rebecca D. Schwartz, rural Berne.
Survivors include the parents; grandparents Raymond J.R. and Delilah J.M. Schwartz, Berne, and Dan F. and Ann D. Schwartz of Bryant; and great-grandparents Raymond M.L. and Mary Schwartz of Geneva; Joe D.J. and Margaret B. Eicher of Berne; Elizabeth Wengerd of Berne; and Edith D.J. Schwartz of Berne.
Elmer L. Uhrick, 85, Bluffton, passed away at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, July 19, at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne.
He was born Dec. 10, 1928, in Geneva to the late Vernon and Devota (Clark) Uhrick.
Elmer married Norma Jean Swygart Dec. 15, 1946, in Portland; she passed away July 19, 1979. He married his second wife, Madonna (DuBois) Bergdoll, July 26, 1980; she passed away Aug. 27, 2001.
He worked for Franklin Electric for 25 years, retiring in 1991.
The Adams County 4-H Fair kicked off its five-day run under sunny skies and mostly pleasing temperatures Sunday, with a busy day of activities planned.
Among the more entertaining and highly-attended events was a greased pig contest, held in the livestock show arena. Young fairgoers had their hands full — or perhaps more correctly had them empty — chasing the slippery little porkers around the ring.
Parents jumped in the ring to help their children in the greased pig contest at the 4-H fair Sunday evening.
Adams County Building/Planning and Zoning Director Mark Wynn appeared before the Adams County Commissioners at their recent meeting to ask for their approval of the re-platting of two subdivisions in the county.
The first re-plat, of Country Corner Subdivision, on C.R. 200S at C.R. 100E was submitted by John N. and Susanne Schwartz. The couple’s petitions requested two acres of their property at the intersection be re-platted for the purpose of constructing an Amish school house.
MONSTER TOURNEY WINNERS—The Monroe Youth League hosted their sixth annual Monster Softball Tournament earlier this month and in attendance were 10 12-under teams and six 14-under squads. In the 12-under division, the Indiana Lady Spiders were victorious in the title game against the Decatur Dynamites (picture). James “Barney” E. Schultz, 67, Decatur, died Friday.

A press release from Adams County Auditor Mary Beery indicates a joint executive session of the Adams County Council and the Adams County Commissioners will be held at 8 a.m. Monday. The purpose of the executive session, which is closed to the public, is “to discuss a strategy for the possible purchase of real estate by Adams County under I.C. 5-14-1.5-6.1 (b)(2)(D).”
South Adams Superintendent of Schools Scott Litwiller informed school board members at their recent meeting he is continuing to work on a “vision for social media use” at South Adams; one that is congruent with the school’s mission, objectives and goals. Specifically, the board is interested in using social media as an outreach tool for communication and marketing.
