Steven D. Seitz, 54, Decatur, was found Monday, June 30, 2014, after an accidental drowning following a kayak mishap.
He was born Aug. 22, 1959, in Decatur, to Vernon D. and Carol A. (Baumgartner) Seitz.
Steve was a 1978 Bellmont High School graduate. He was a former manager at CVS and Clark Oil Co.
Decatur’s annual Fourth of July celebration will kick off at 6 p.m. Friday at Riverside Center and will culminate some four hours later with the traditional fireworks display.
Decatur Mayor John Schultz announced today the city of Decatur has received permission from the office of Indiana Governor Mike Pence to fly all flags at half-staff in honor of the passing of five-term Mayor Fred Isch.
Schultz is requesting all of Decatur residents and businesses to lower flags to half-staff from Friday morning to Sunday evening.
The public is invited to a bald eagle program, a special Independence Day program, from 2-3:30 p.m. Friday at the Limberlost State Historic Site Visitor Center in Geneva.
Visitors will be able to see a live bald eagle, provided by Soarin’ Hawk Raptor Rehab of Fort Wayne, and attend a PowerPoint presentation in the Visitor Center classroom.
The event is free and open to the public. Donations will be accepted.
