Jay Ryals from Fifth Third Bank gave an updated presentation on bond refinancing to the North Adams Community School’s board of education earlier this week.
Ryals appeared before the board in May told school officials the district was in a position to save a substantial amount of money by refinancing its existing pension bonds.
Keith Brandt, 74, Fort Wayne, died Tuesday, June 10, 2014, at Lutheran Hospital.
He was born Nov. 27, 1939, in Decatur, to the late Dale L. and Alvina P. (Butler) Brandt Sr.
Keith had worked for G.E. in Decatur for 25 years. He served his country in the US Army, being stationed in Germany from 1960-1963.
Cash Steven Walker was stillborn June 8, 2014.
Surviving are his parents Kyle and Mercy (Klarke) Walker of Bluffton.
Arrangements were handled by Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur.
The three-hour school delay option will be retained by Adams Central Schools for 2014-15, online registration will not be implemented and making up lost school days online may be looked at in the near future.
At its meeting on Tuesday, the AC board of education agreed to keep the three-hour delay for the entire school year.
Attempts by officials of the North Adams Community Schools district to secure liability insurance have been rejected by Selective and EMC insurance companies because of the school district’s rifle shooting program.
Bellmont High School is one of nine schools in Indiana to compete recently at the state level in target shooting. Because the school offers the rifle sport, insurance companies feel there is too much liability and refuse to offer insurance, Business Manager Larry Carty explained.

Anthony (Tony) J. McBride, born May 11, 1953, died at home at 2 a.m. Tuesday, June 10, 2014, after an extended illness.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Rosie (Baker) McBride (9-1-1998), father, James A. McBride (12-12-2001), and brother, Michael J. McBride (8-5-1995).
Surviving are five sisters, Patricia, Peggy, Phyllis, Teresa and Betty, and two brothers, Jim and Richard.
Jeanne K. Kelley, 87, Decatur, died Monday, June 9, 2014, at Chalet Village in Berne.
She was born April 14, 1927, in Wyandotte, Mich., to the late Jesse and Birdie (Hoffman) Schug.
Jeanne married Richard L. Kelley March 8, 1947; he preceded her in death July 13, 2001.
Jeanne retired from Decatur Industries after 24 years of service. She was a former member of the Women of the Moose.
