Short-handed Squaws to play their hand at track state

    With entries in five events at the IHSAA girls state finals in track Friday evening, Bellmont coach Carl Risch says he believes his Squaws have a chance at finishing among the top 10 in the team standings.
    Following the girls action on Saturday will be the boys state finals with Bellmont having the only entrant from Adams County in Cam Bienz in the high jump.

Jail talks: Back to square one?

    There’s a new player in the game.
    After several months of eliminating nearly a dozen potential sites for the proposed new county jail/court complex and narrowing the location to several blocks of 1st Street in downtown Decatur, a new site was back-handedly revealed by the Adams County Commissioners at their weekly meeting Monday afternoon.

Culpepper & Merriweather Circus performs in Berne

    The Berne Chamber of Commerce brought the circus to town Monday night. The Culpepper & Merriweather Circus gave two performances under the Big Top, with tight rope walkers, unicycle riders, ponies, lions clowns and contortionists delighting the crowds.

 

Film-making is planned as part of Sculpture Tour ‘14

    “The Old 27 Film Festival” will be held in coordination with the installation and unveiling of the Decatur Sculpture Tour June 13-14.
    The Old 27 Film Festival encourages film artists, novice and professional alike, to create films that include certain aspects of the sculpture tour and the city of Decatur while they carry their own distinct storyline or message. There is no charge for participation in this event.

    Dean R. Singleton, 64, rural Decatur, died Monday at the Adams Memorial Hospital.     Arrangements are pending at Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur.
