Jack Andrews

    Jack Andrews, 88, rural Decatur, died Sunday, June 22, 2014, at his residence.
    He was born Aug. 8, 1925, in Adams County, to the late Harrison and Hattie Mae (Hoffman) Andrews.
    On Sept. 23, 1950, he married Patricia A. Myers; she preceded him in death June 5, 2006.
    Jack was a member of St. Luke Church. He was a farmer and bus driver for Adams Central Schools. He was a lifetime member of Moose Lodge 1311 and a member of the Indiana Bus Driver Association.

Dahlia C. Wilferling

    Dahlia C. Wilferling, 88, Decatur, passed away at 7:50 p.m. Saturday, June 21, 2014, at Adams Woodcrest Nursing Center, where she had resided since April 2013.
    She was born Wednesday, Nov. 18, 1925, in Chicago, the daughter of the late Paul and Francis (Bork) Sonntag. She married the late Carl H. Wilferling Nov. 19, 1949, in Chicago; he passed away June 1972.
    Dahlia was a homemaker.

Commish okay CC staff restructuring

    Just as he did last week, Adams County Community Corrections Executive Director Ian Gilbert appeared before the Adams County Commissioners Monday to again ask their permission to restructure his staff in the wake of the resignation of Field Officer Kevin McIntosh. This time, however, his request was unanimously approved.

Financing for Berne sewer project is approved

    After a nearly two-week dance with state environmental officials, during which time the state twice changed its advisory opinion surrounding financing for a Berne waste water treatment plant upgrade, city officials on Monday approved an ordinance authorizing the issuance of $7.9 million in sewage works improvement bonds.

Relay for Life nears

     The annual Adams County Relay for Life, a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society, will be held Saturday and Sunday at Adams Central School. The event kicks off at noon Saturday and concludes Sunday morning. A complete schedule of events will appear later this week in the Democrat.
