Jack Andrews, 88, rural Decatur, died Sunday. Arrangements are pending at Haggard, Sefton and Hirschy Funeral Home.
Naomi Irene Moore, 71, Decatur, passed away at 8:20 a.m. Saturday, June 21, 2014, at her residence.
She was born Wednesday, Oct. 28, 1942, in Van Wert, Ohio, the daughter of the late Sherman and Ethel (Dunifon) Wallace. She married Rex M. Moore Aug. 29, 1964; he survives.
Naomi was a member of Common Ground Church of the Nazarene.
The city of Decatur received 1.33 inches of rain in the span of about half an hour after a pop-up thunderstorm sat — and sat — over the city late Sunday afternoon.
Sunday’s forecast called for a slight chance of rain, however the downpour that ensued during the isolated storm was probably not what most residents were expecting. Several city and county roadways were flooded, causing havoc for those driving through the city.
Auctioneer Harry Miller plies his trade during the 20th annual Golden Meadows Home auction to benefit the Special Needs Resident Fund held Saturday. Each year area businesses and residents donate items to be auctioned off as part of the home’s fundraiser. Auction totals will be available later this week.
Wet weather throughout the day Friday threatened to put a damper on the 14th annual Motor Sports Festival car show, sponsored by the Decatur Chamber of Commerce. Cloudy skies gave way to sunshine later in the day, although some early evening raindrops kept the crowd somewhat smaller than had been anticipated.
