Pool, park upgrades unveiled

    Northward, Hanna Nuttman and Waterworks parks, along with the Decatur municipal swimming pool, are targeted for improvements this spring, according to Chris Krull,  director of leisure services at the Adams County Parks and Recreation Department. The estimated cost of the improvements was set at $55,000.

Longtime Decatur police chief to retire

    A long and distinguished career in law enforcement will formally come to an end June 27, the last day on the job for Decatur Police Chief Ken Ketzler.
    Ketzler, current vice president of the Indiana Association of Chiefs of Police, began with the department as a patrolman and worked his way up to chief, being appointed by former mayor Fred Isch. Before joining the department, he was a member of the Adams County Sheriff’s Department.

    And then came the rain.
    Following several days of sunny skies and warm weather, Adams County residents awoke Thursday to an onslaught of rain that didn’t let up, dumping 1.84 inches of liquid sunshine throughout the area.
    The National Weather Service issued an urban and small stream flood advisory for Adams and surrounding counties as heavy rain caused minor flooding on highways, underpasses, country roads and farmland running along the banks of creeks and streams.
