Depleted Bellmont roster suffers on track

    FORT WAYNE—Again utilizing a less-than-full roster of athletes, the Bellmont Squaws managed to win seven of 16 events Tuesday night and split a Northeast Hoosier Conference triangular girls track meet against Homestead and East Noble.
    The host Homestead team amassed 73 points for the team win and had eight blue ribbons on the night while Bellmont settled for 50 points. East Noble, a team that had knocked off Norwell and Carroll last week in girls track, won just only one event and was third at 44.

Jobless rate remains at historic low

    Unemployment in Adams County continues to remain near historically low levels.
    The monthly jobless report issued Monday by the Indiana Department of Workforce Development showed local unemployment during March was 5.7 percent, the lowest in the six years for which the Democrat has kept such records.

Jets win offensive fiesta at Hangar over Eastbrook, 17-11

    MONROE— Adams Central scored all 17 runs after the third inning to win a wild one at the Hangar on Monday night, 17-11, over the Eastbrook Panthers.
    The Jets were down 9-0 after Eastbrook broke open the game with seven runs in the top of the fourth and it appeared that they would be on their way to a second loss this season.

    Vinnie’s Bar owner Chris Faurote again appeared before the Adams County Commissioners at their regular weekly meeting Monday afternoon to express his displeasure with the county’s choice of a 1st Street location near downtown Decatur for the construction of a combined jail and superior court complex. This time, he brought reinforcements.
