More than 100 interested area residents packed Riverside Center Wednesday evening to hear an update on the city of Decatur’s application for a Stellar Communities grant.
The city last month was selected as one of six finalists for the state program that allocates millions of dollars for selected Indiana towns and cities to revitalize their communities. Two recipients of the Stellar Communities designation will be announced later this summer.
With the harshest winter in recent history still visible in the rearview mirror, a three-hour delay has been approved for the remainder of the school year for Adams Central schools.
Bellmont High School Principal Kim Harsh attended the North Adams Community Schools’ board of education meeting Tuesday to discuss the possibility of a weekly delayed start or early release at the high school next year.
Harsh said teachers currently do not have the necessary time to come together, coordinate and collaborate. A delayed start, beginning once a week at 8:30 a.m., or an early release, letting students out at 2:30 p.m. once a week, would give the staff additional time Harsh feels is necessary to focus on professional development.
