Some Adams County voters will be casting their ballots at three new polling locations in the May primary, Auditor Mary Beery reported for Clerk of Courts Gayla Reinhart at Monday’s regular meeting of the Adams County Commissioners.
COLD WALK — After a respite of more than a week, snow returned to Adams County Thursday. Two inches of snow fell throughout the day as area law enforcement agencies reported numerous slide-off accidents on state highways, and even walking was made unpleasant by the snow and high winds, as this man walking down 2nd Street in Decatur discovered.

The Adams County Substance Abuse Awareness Council provides yearly grant opportunities to agencies in Adams County to help address alcohol, tobacco, and other drug issues in our community. The grant money is the collection of fees from those that commit drug or alcohol offenses.
Agencies that were awarded funds for fiscal year 2014 are:

Margaret B. (Amsbaugh) Boggs, 93, Decatur, died Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2014, at Woodcrest Nursing Center.
She was born May 17, 1920, in Wells County, to the late Grover and Odessa (Martz) Bucher. She was first married to D.C. Amsbaugh, who died in 1980. She then married Ressie Earl Boggs on December 27, 1995; he survives.
Margaret attended New Hope Church. She was a homemaker and worked for General Electric in Decatur for 26 years.
Arnulfo V. Garcia, 77, Decatur, died Monday, Jan. 13, 2014, at Woodcrest Nursing Center.
Arnulfo was born April 7, 1936, in Crystal City, Texas, to the late Bacilio and Maria Apolinar (Venegas) Garcia. He married his wife of 59 years, Genoveva Hernandez Sept. 26, 1954; she survives.
Maurice E. “Maury” Teeple, 88, Decatur, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2014, at Adams Memorial Hospital.
He was born June 25, 1925, in Decatur to the late Fred E. and Iva A. (Barrone) Teeple. He married Mary L. Whitaker Jan. 26, 1946; she died Aug. 24, 1994.
The Decatur Chamber of Commerce annually gives three awards to recognize outstanding community citizenship and service to the Decatur community. The awards will be presented at the chamber’s annual dinner Feb. 6 at the Knights of Columbus pavilion in Decatur. Social hour begins at 5:45 p.m. and dinner will be at 6:30 p.m. The cost of dinner is $25. Reservations are required and may be made by calling the chamber at 724-2604.
