With a total of 5 inches of snow falling Thursday across Adams County, and with a low temperature reading of -6 degrees this morning, area residents could use a break. Unfortunately, that break doesn’t seem to be coming anytime in the near future as another round of snow, and even colder temperatures, are forecast for the coming weekend.
The time and temperature reading at the First Bank of Berne branch office on the east side of Decatur showed a generous reading of zero degrees F. early this morning. City officials reported an overnight low of -6 degrees.

Haley Davidson, Linn Grove, gave birth to Adams County’s first baby of the New Year. Her son, Jackson, was born at 1:49 a.m. Jan. 1 at Adams Memorial Hospital. The baby, Davidson’s second, weighed in at 7 pounds, 4 ounces and was 20 inches long. Also pictured is Jackson’s father, Shawn Bowman, as he holds a gift basket full of goodies that traditionally goes to the first baby of the year.

"We're strong enough to win it, and there are a couple of other teams that are equally as good if not better. It comes down to bonus points," sized up Adams Central wrestling coach Doug Schultz, on the chances that his squad successfully defends its Class A state wrestling championship Saturday at Westfield High School.
Adams County is currently under a travel advisory until further notice. Roads may be snow covered in spots with drifting snow due to the wind. Motorists are encouraged to drive safely and take extra precaution.
Following a brief reprieve from Mother Nature, temperatures in the area plummeted into the teens over the past few days, bringing 3 inches of fresh snow along for the ride.
Jeremy Gilbert, operations manager for the city of Decatur, at 8 a.m. today said the intensity of the snowfall “has really picked up in the last two or three hours” leaving everything in town “pretty well snow-covered.”
The Geneva Town Council conducted a brief end-of-the- year meeting Monday evening to swear in a new school resource officer, appoint new terms and individuals to various positions within the town’s government, and adjust year-end budget appropriations.
Alexa Brotherton made a candy creation at the Decatur branch of the Adams Public Library on Monday as part of Christmas break activities at the library and other sites.

Elizabeth "Pat" Gass, 79, of Decatur, died Tuesday at Lutheran Hospital. Arrangements are pending at Haggard-Sefton and Hirschy Funeral Home.
