Sheila Y. Nevsimal, 78, Berne, passed away Monday, Dec. 9, 2013 at her home.
She was born to Norman and Frances (West) Harris Oct. 14, 1935, in Losantville.
Sheila was a nurse and practiced many years at Chalet Village in Berne. Her special interests included crocheting, quilting, reading, traveling and teaching children crocheting at the Berne Public Library.
The Fort Wayne Philharmonic presented its Holiday Pops Concert at South Adams High School Tuesday evening. The 64-piece orchestra, under the direction of Assistant Conductor Sameer Patel, performed a variety of holiday favorites to the delight of a large crowd in attendance.

Kenneth W. Pancake, 71, Decatur, passed away at 7:40 a.m. Monday, Dec. 9, 2013, at his residence.
He was born Tuesday, March 3, 1942, in Fort Wayne, the son of the late Virgil I. and Velma G. (Parks) Pancake. He married Barbara J. Borror April 7, 1962, in Decatur; she survives.
Ken was a member of First United Methodist Church in Decatur. He was a 1961 graduate of New Haven High School and attended Ivy Tech College.
David “Dave” Charles Reed, 72, Coldwater, Mich., lost his fight with cancer Sunday, Dec. 8, 2013, at home.
He was born Oct. 8, 1941, in Decatur, the son of the late Ralph and Rose Mary (Omlor) Reed.

No Swiss, no theme, no approval. That’s what businesses looking to build in Berne may hear if a proposed ordinance requiring new firms and current businesses to have a Swiss-themed building is approved by the Berne City Council.
Under the proposed ordinance, a committee made up of two council representatives, two representatives of the city plan commission, the mayor and two citizens appointed by the mayor would have final approval of any future business design in the city of Berne.
