Eric P. Martin, 29-year-old Anderson resident, was in custody at the Adams County Jail this morning after being arrested Wednesday afternoon in an unusual incident.
Adams County Chief Deputy Sheriff Eric Beer, off duty and in his pickup truck, saw a man running from the St. Vincent dePaul store on Village Green Drive. As Beer drove around the Baymont Inn to check on the man, a car run into the side of his vehicle.
The annual Iron Kid Triathlon was held on Saturday, July 27 at Bellmont High School.
The event split kids into six different age groups based on age as they ran, biked, and swam through to the finish line. Also based on age was the distance for each groups’ trials.
Noah Hunley was a winner in the 5-6 year old group with a time of 13:57, while Mason Martinez was second with a time of 14:38. In third was Ethan Curtis at 15:03.
This year’s Swiss Days event marked the end of the two-year tenure of Berne Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Sheree Barkley, who stepped down at the conclusion of the festival to pursue other interests.
Chamber President Mark Settlemyre said he hopes to schedule a meeting of the chamber's executive board to fill the position sometime next week. Settlemyre said the board had received resumes "from some good candidates" to take over the director's duties.

Anna L. Isch, 100, of Bluffton, died at 3:33 p.m. Monday, July 29, 2013, at Christian Care Retirement Community.
Anna was born in Adams County on September 3, 1912, to the late Jehu and Lydia (Maller) Gerber.
She married Ervin L. Isch in Wells County on May 28, 1939; he preceded her in death on April 14, 1998.
Anna was a homemaker. She was a member of Apostolic Christian Church.
An official of Aging & In-Home Services of Northeast Indiana (AIHS) said Tuesday the agency is seeking a new Decatur site for its restaurant voucher program, suspended since the closing of Spring Garden Restaurant at the intersection of Winchester Road, 13th and 2nd streets.
The first-ever BerneOff — an amateur grilling event being billed as "a little friendly competition and great bar-b-que" — will be held Saturday, August 17, along Harrison Street, near the Muensterberg Plaza in Berne.
Proceeds from the event will benefit the Dots in Blue Water program that has twice sent students and faculty from South Adams High School to Haiti to help native Haitians purify their drinking water supplies.
Adams Central Schools officials have extended by one hour the middle and high school registration period on Thursday. The registration schedule follows:
Elementary registration (grades K-5) will be held in the elementary gym, with open registration from 12-7 p.m.
Middle and high school registration (grades 6-12) will be held in the cafetorium, with open registration from 2-7 p.m.
The Decatur Thunderbirds team went 6-0 to win the Brickhouse Tournament in Monroe's 12-under division earlier this month, while the Decatur Braves' 9-under squad surprised the field by winning the 10-under division.
Eric O. Case, Jr., 21, of Decatur, passed away Sunday, July 28, 2013, in Bluffton.
Eric was born to Eric and Leisa Bentz Case on December 11, 1991, in Adams County.
He graduated from Norwell High School in 2010.
