Braves’ “O” too much for Knights despite Harnish TDs

    KINGSLAND—Bellmont used a balanced attack to neutralize the Norwell offense on Friday night at the Courtyard nabbing a convincing 49-28 victory over the Knights.
    Norwell's homecoming was thwarted by the Braves from the opening drive as the disruptive Bellmont squad posted 557 yards of offense on the night including a career high 187 yards passing from sophomore quarterback Jordan Amacker who looked more comfortable throwing the football.

Sewer board eyes changes to project

    Eleventh-hour changes in the design of a rural sewer collection to service customers in the the outlying areas of Monmouth and Roe Acres, Bobo, Pleasant Mills and Arcadia Village have pushed the timeline for the project back slightly.

BHS benefits from bike ride

    Evan Oliff, a bicyclist on the final leg of a three-day Chicago-to-Decatur trip, was led by a civilian motorcyclist on Wednesday afternoon to his final destination at Bellmont High School. A crowd of supporters that included North Adams Superintendent Brent Lehman, BSH Principal Kim Harsh, Vice Principal Aaron Baker and many Bellmont students were gathered outside to cheer him on.

Bishop takes a fall, breaks collarbone

    The Roman Catholic bishop for much of northern Indiana is recovering after surgery to repair a broken collarbone.
    A spokesman for Fort Wayne-South Bend Bishop Kevin Rhoades says he was injured in a fall Sunday night while he was on his way to Washington, D.C., for meetings with the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops.
    Diocesan spokesman Sean McBride tells The Journal Gazette that Rhoades returned to Fort Wayne on Wednesday and underwent surgery Thursday at a Fort Wayne hospital.

    According to Bellmont coach Steve Lee, this has been the mantra of the 2013 BHS girls soccer team and once again it proved the deciding factor in Thursday night's away victory at Blackhawk Christian, 1-0.

Dwight L. Brunner

September 12, 2013

    Dwight L. "Dewey" Brunner, 72, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, September 10, 2013, at Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home in Fort Wayne.
    He was born in Decatur on March 27, 1941 to the late Lester and Ethel (Bunner) Brunner.
    Dwight was a dedicated, hardworking employee at Zollner Pistons, retiring after many faithful decades of service.

Mae M. Frauhiger

    Mae M. Frauhiger, 82, of Bluffton, passed away at 3:45 a.m. on September 11, 2013.
    She was born February 17, 1931, to the late Howard and Hazel (Blair) Mowery in Wells County.
    Mae married Jerry E. Frauhiger on December 28, 1956 in Bluffton; he survives.
    A 1949 graduate of Bluffton High School, Mae co-owned Happy's Place Tavern in Berne with her husband for 23 years.

Ralph "Ed" Langston

    Ralph "Ed" Langston, 60, of Piqua, Ohio, died at 8:26 a.m. on Saturday, September 7, 2013 at the Piqua Manor Nursing Home.
    He was born July 12, 1953 in Piqua to Richard Langston and the late Esther B. (McGillvary) Langston of Piqua. He married Janice M. Matchett; and she survives.
