The Fort Wayne Housing Authority's board of directors has voted to take over operations of its counterpart in Decatur, although final approval of that move will hinge on a vote of Decatur Housing Authority board members scheduled for later this month.
Tom Magnan, administrator of the county’s Golden Meadows retirement home, appeared at the regular monthly meeting of the Adams County Council Tuesday morning to ask permission to raise the rate of pay for four members of his staff. Specifically, Magnan requested an increase in the hourly wages of three certified and non-certified nursing assistants, as well as the wage of the retirement home’s housekeeping/laundry supervisor.

We're into week five of the Pigskin Picks and once again there was not a single perfect bracket to be found. The magic number this week was 48 points between Alabama and Georgia State. Titus Schwartz managed to get the closest missing only the IU/Penn State game and ending with a score of 65 points. In second was Ronda Cowans also missing the Penn State upset and guessing 83 points. In third was Dennis McBarnes who missed two with a score of 47 points. Coach Baker, you really let me down this week!
Charles J. Bransteter, 90, Fort Wayne, died Oct. 7, 2013, at Heritage Park in Fort Wayne. He was born in Adams County on Oct. 24, 1922, to the late Charles and Nelly (McGough) Branstetter.
He worked for Magnavox in Fort Wayne as a foreman, with 49 years of service. He enjoyed hunting and bowling.
Elizabeth Margaret K. Klug Jr. 31, of New Haven, passed away, Oct. 1, 2013. She was born on January 29, 1982 in Hartford, Conn., to Laszlo and Elizabeth Maria (Pasztorik) Klug Sr.
Elizabeth worked as a graphic designer at the Decatur Daily Democrat. She was to be married November 16 to her fiance Brian Frank, her best friend.
Along with her parents, she is survived by her brother, Laszlo Klug Jr.
Service Complex Maintenance Supervisor Dave Meyer queried Adams County Councilors about his position and the salary that comes with it at Tuesday's regular monthly meeting of the Adams County Council.
