Adams County's first ever rural sewer project will move forward.
That was the unanimous decision Thursday evening of the seven-member regional sewer board, which voted to proceed with plans to construct a rural sewer system to serve an estimated 233 households in the outlying areas of Monmouth, Bobo, Pleasant Mills and Arcadia Village.
The annual Adams County Republican Party Lincoln Day Dinner was held Thursday evening at the Decatur Elks Lodge featuring a spirited address by Hoosier Lieutenant Governor Sue Ellspermann.
National Weather Service officials this morning informed officials at the Decatur weather station that the St. Marys River is expected to crest around 20.6 feet here tonight.
Although the river's flood stage is 17 feet, it causes no significant problems until getting beyond 21 feet.
Dorothy L. Brandenburg, 91, of Decatur, passed away Thursday, April 11, 2013, at Woodcrest Nursing Center Extended Care Unit.
She was born on Thursday, May 5, 1921, in Detroit, Mich., to the late Harlan E. Williams and the late Lillie May (Sprayberry) Mitchell.
She married William G. Brandenburg on May 30, 1946, in Mount Clemens, Mich.; he passed away October 4, 1999.
James H. Hitner, 54, of Decatur, died Wednesday at the Visiting Nurse & Hospice Home in Fort Wayne.
Among survivors are his wife, Paula Hitner of Decatur; three daughters, Shelley (Mike) Campbell of Fort Wayne, Christina (Don) White, and Becky Eyanson, both of Decatur; three sons, Dan Hitner of Chicago, Ill., Jim Hitner, and Nick Hitner, both of Ohio; stepson, Alex Cox of Fort Wayne; two ste-daughters, Lauren Cox and Mallory (Red) Relyea, both of Fort Wayne; eight grandchildren; and six step-grandchildren.
Patricia Ann "Pat" Lahr, 68, of Warren, Ind., passed away Tuesday, April 9, 2013, at Heritage Pointe in Warren.
She was born on Wednesday, September 6, 1944, in Marion, to the late Wilford H. Lahr and the late Glendora I. (Wagner) Ross.
Donald G. Moore, 87, Berne, passed away Thursday.

John J. “Jack” Hunter, 89, of Bluffton, passed away at 8:05 a.m. Wednesday, April 10, 2013, at River Terrace Estates in Bluffton.
Jack was born September 1, 1923, in Decatur, to Joseph and Francis (Baker) Hunter.
Growing up, he was very active in the Boy Scouts, obtaining his Eagle Scout award and later serving as a Scout leader for several years. He graduated from Decatur High School before enlisting in the United States Navy Air Corp during World War II.
Gerald Michael “Mike” Kohne, 77, of Decatur, passed away Wednesday, April 10, 2013, at Adams Memorial Hospital.
He was born on April 2, 1936, to the late Dr. Gerald Joseph and Margaret Elizabeth (Sheley) Kohne.
Mike married Bonnie L. Hake on September 11, 1965; she survives in Decatur.
He was the owner of Decatur Package Liquors for 30 years and he also worked for nine years at the Bob Heller Insurance Agency.
Several changes will be taking place at Adams Central over the next year with four more teachers announcing their intention to retire at the end of the 2012-13 school year, accepting the one-time $15,000 retirement incentive package approved by the board of education last month.
The incentive offered qualifying teachers a $15,000 payout that would be placed in a 403(b) account and made available to the retiree as of July 15, 2013. The regular severance package offered to teachers is still immediately available.
