John F. "Mac" McConnell, 93, of Worthington, Ohio, went home to be with the Lord Saturday, August 31, 2013.
John was born May 26, 1920, in Decatur to Joseph and Ercie (Dull) McConnell.
John graduated from Decatur High School and attended Depauw University where he played on the football team. He was a World War II veteran. He retired was a V.P. for Motorist Mutual Insurance Company with 35 years of service.

The town of Geneva will be the first community in Indiana to be designated as a "Bird Town" by the Indiana Audubon Society, Limberlost State Historic Site Manager Randy Lehman reported at last night's Geneva Town Council meeting. The achievement will be recognized with an official ceremony at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 14 at the historic site, located at 200 East Sixth St. in Geneva, when representatives of the state Audubon organization will make a formal presentation to village officials.
Adams County residents will soon be able to pay their taxes by credit card over the counter, Treasurer Tom Krueckberg reported to the county commissioners at Tuesday's weekly meeting.
The new service will begin on January 1.
With some of their stronger runners participating in competition for the first time this year, the Bellmont girls cross country team served notice Tuesday night they intend to be a force to be reckoned with during the coming season.
Coach Carl Risch's girls went 5-0 in the annual Bi-County Conditioner hosted by the Squaws led by the first place time of the team of Emily Gunsett and Bailey Beery and are now 9-4 on the season, while the Starfire men won the boys' division with ease.

Marsha Hirschy, 66 of Geneva, died Sunday at Adams Memorial Hospital.
Among survivors are her husband, David A. Hirschy of Geneva; two sons, Chad (Carylyn) Hirschy of Geneva and Eric (Rachel) Hirschy of Berne; one daughter, Amy Landers of Berne; two brothers, Terry L. Jones of Bryant and Von A. Jones of Geneva; and a sister, Sue Gilkison of Middletown.
Jackie Lee McDonald, 80, of Decatur, died Friday at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne.
Among survivors are his daughter, Cathy McDonald of Decatur; son, Randy L. McDonald of Decatur; and sister, Carolyn Kocher of Lansing, Mich. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. on Wednesday at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday.
Burial will be in Decatur Cemetery.
Emily S. Schwartz, 15, of Monroe, passed away Saturday, August 31, 2013, at Adams Memorial Hospital in Bluffton.
Emily was born November 11, 1997, to Simon E.T. Schwartz and Ruth E. (Schwartz) Schwartz in Bluffton.
Karen Virgina (Brown) Vieth, 67 of Ossian, went to sing in heaven's choir on Thursday, August 29, 2013.
Eileene was born April 17, 1946, in Flint, Mich. to Manley (Mike) and Glynita (Nita) Brown.
She was a gifted athlete and singer from early childhood. Karen shared in music ministries through solos, duets, tiros and choirs.
