Bradbury named to setter honor for third time

    BRENTWOOD, TN — Eastern Illinois sophomore Marah Bradbury nabbed her third career Ohio Valley Conference 'Setter of the Week' award this week as she helped lead Panther volleyball to runner-up team honors at the KSU Golden Flashes Classic last weekend.
    The Decatur native dished out a season-high 53 assists and hit .833 (5-of-6, with zero errors) in EIU's four-set victory over Binghamton, as Eastern also swept Midwest foe Illinois-Chicago before falling to host Kent State in the championship match.

Jonas J. Graber Sr.

    Jonas J. Graber Sr., 69, rural Geneva, died Sept. 24, 2013.
    He was born to Jonas Graber and Margaret Schwartz on Feb. 26, 1944 in Adams County. He married Mattie Lambright on March 31, 1966 and she survives.
    Jonas was a member of the Old Order Amish Church where he was bishop in the East Amish Church. He was a carpenter by trade.
    Among survivors are 15 children; 115 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Marjorie M. Stucky

    Marjorie M. Stucky, 94, Berne, died on Monday, Sept. 23, 2013, at Swiss Village Retirement Community.
    She was born Aug. 11, 1919, to Henry and Mary (Reineck) Dotterer in Bluffton. She married the late Earl M. Stuckey on Oct. 12, 1940, in Monroe.
    Marjorie graduated from Bluffton High School in 1937. She was a homemaker and assisted her family with operating the Stucky Furniture store in Monroe. She was a member of Apostolic Christian Church.

Changes made to county’s health plan

September 25, 2013

    In anticipation of the full impact of health care reform associated with the Affordable Care Act affecting Adams County government in January of 2014, the Adams County Commissioners have instituted some changes to the county group health plan. Insurance rates will increase $10 per two-week pay period for both those utilizing the Lutheran Preferred plan as well as the Three Rivers plan.

Halloween events planned in Berne

The annual Halloween parade is a go in Berne now that city council has approved the request for road closures, additional police support and all the loose ends that go with putting on the annual event.
The Halloween parade will be held Oct. 29, a day after the annual Callithumpian parade in Decatur.     Several Halloween events were approved during the Monday meeting:
• During the parade Main Street will be closed to traffic and Berne police will provide additional support for the event.
