Evan Oliff, a bicyclist on the final leg of a three-day Chicago-to-Decatur trip, was led by a civilian motorcyclist on Wednesday afternoon to his final destination at Bellmont High School. A spokesman for Fort Wayne-South Bend Bishop Kevin Rhoades says he was injured in a fall Sunday night while he was on his way to Washington, D.C., for meetings with the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops.
Diocesan spokesman Sean McBride tells The Journal Gazette that Rhoades returned to Fort Wayne on Wednesday and underwent surgery Thursday at a Fort Wayne hospital.
