Harold E. Feasel

August 12, 2013

    Harold E. "Gus" Feasel II, 65, of Willshire, Ohio, passed away early Thursday morning, August 8, 2013 at his residence.
    Harold was born Saturday, November 8, 1947,  in Adams County, to the late Harold E. and Betty J. (Brown) Feasel.
    He married Linda Diane Miller on September 18, 1971 in Willshire; she passed away on March 19, 2000.

Elma Thieme

    Elma Thieme, 91 of Decatur passed away Saturday, August 10, 2013, in the Laurels of Shane Hill in Rockford, Ohio, where she had been a resident for the past three months.
    Elma was born Tuesday, December 13, 1921, in Van Wert County, Ohio, to the late Andrew and Emma (Gunsett) Etzler.
    She married her first husband, Virgil M. Springer, on November 2, 1941; he passed away on July 16, 1942. She married her second husband, Arnold Thieme, on April 20, 1947; he passed away on January 10, 1997.

Donna J. Wietfeldt

    Donna J. Wietfeldt, 65, of Decatur passed away Friday, August 9, 2013, at her residence.
    Donna was born on August 17, 1947, in Adams County to the late Donald L. and Norma E. (Ridenour) Agler.
    Donna was a homemaker and a retired daycare provider. She was a member of Faith Alive Ministries.

BMS student NASA camp: space-themed, hands-on

    Bellmont Middle School recently held its third annual NASA Camp.
    NASA Camp is a space-themed, hands-on opportunity for Bellmont Middle School students to become fully immersed in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math). NASA developed its “Summer of Innovation” program to assist educators in providing STEM that relates to space.

Back to class Tuesday

    Students in North Adams, Adams Central and South Adams schools will return to classes on Tuesday for the start of the 2013-14 school year.
    The day will be a full day of attendance for public school students in the county.
    St. Joseph and Zion Lutheran schools also begin on Tuesday.
    With the start of school, Adams Central Schools officials are requesting area farmers to help with the safety of transporting students by trimming the corners of the cornfields.
 

Woodcrest earns high marks

    According to information recently provided to the Adams Health Network (AHN) Board of Trustees, the Woodcrest Nursing Home received "its best State Board of Health Survey in memory," according to AHN vice president for long-term services Bill Watson.
    Health care facilities throughout the state are surveyed annually by the Indiana State Department of Health (ISDH) on a wide variety of issues ranging from nursing care to dietary concerns to patient rights and much more.

James A. Gilbert

August 9, 2013

    James A. “Jim” Gilbert, 63, of Decatur, passed away on Wednesday, August 7, 2013 at Parkview Regional Medical Center.
    Jim was born on October 23, 1949, in Decatur to the late Ermal and Ardis (Brintzenhofe) Gilbert.
    On June 13, 1970, he married Susan K. Wolfe.
    Jim worked as a HVAC Tech for Wells Heating and Cooling for over 20 years.

Rose E. Lichtenberger

August 9, 2013

    Rose E. Lichtenberger, 81, of Wren, Ohio, died Thursday at CHP Inpatient Hospice Center in Van Wert, Ohio.
    Among survivors are her husband, Charles Lichtenberger of Wren; son, Gary (Gayle) Lichtenberger of Decatur; and two daughters, Joanne (Allen) Shinnaberry and Lois (Tod) Waltz, both of Van Wert.
    Visitation will be from 1-7 p.m. Sunday and 10-11 a.m. Monday at Cowan & Son Funeral Home in Van Wert. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday.

Jean C. Spade

    Jean C. Spade, 72, Berne, passed away August 8, 2013, at the Bluffton Regional Hospital.
    Jean was born to the late Robert and Priscilla (Lehman) Gerber on March 17, 1941.
    She married Donald W. Spade on September 2, 1960.
    She was a member of West Missionary Church. Jean worked for Dunbar Furniture, CTS Corp and retired from Berne Hi-Way Hatchery in 2005. Her special interests included crafts, such as making butterflies out of plastic bottles, cooking, sewing; and collecting dolls.
