South Adams @ Bellmont, volleyball webcast

   Tonight's contest between the Lady Stars of South Adams and the hosting Bellmont Squaws on the volleyball court will begin at 6 p.m. with the JV match first. Good turnout at town hall meeting here

    A large number of people were in attendance at the town hall meeting at Riverside Center on Tuesday night to discuss upcoming ideas for the downtown area.
    The mission of the mayor's advisory group is to attract, retain, and engage citizens. By focusing on the upcoming generations the hope is to prepare the city so that families want to live here, raise their children here, and be educated here.

Brick Sales at 600; fountain off at present

    Adams County Maintenance Director Dave Meyer reported to the county commissioners on Monday that brick sales for a veteran's memorial at the Peace Monument are proceeding nicely, with "right at 600 bricks" currently sold.
    Meyer noted that he was pleased with the progress, adding its "pretty cool that Decatur has that type of project" in the works.
    The 100-year-old monument was rededicated on Saturday, and the sales of bricks are helping finance the restoration of the monument.

Patricia L. Ross

    Patricia L. Ross, 82, of Decatur, and a longtime resident of the Magley area, passed away at 7:35 a.m. on Tuesday, August 27, 2013, at the Woodcrest nursing Center in Decatur.
    Patricia was born Wednesday, July 29, 1931, in Van Wert County, Ohio, to the late Harry E. Lee and the late May F. (Burk) Lee.
    She married Ralph W. Ross on July 19, 1953, and he survives.
    Patricia was a member of the Salem United Church of Christ-Magley, American Legion Auxiliary, and Women of the Moose.

Squaws overcome deficit at Concordia; win in fifth set

    FORT WAYNE—For the second time in their first four matches this season, Bellmont was pushed to their limits into a defining fifth set.
    Like the opener against Bishop Dwenger, however, the Squaws dug deep and pulled a win out of the hat shocking Concordia Lutheran on the road 28-26, 22-25, 25-20, 13-25, 7-15.
    Despite being down two sets to one, coach Craig Krull and his Squaws were not leaving the raucous gym without a victory.
