Berne is one step closer to renovations of the city's sewer system after bonds for the project were reviewed and accepted Monday by city council.
The city received a estimates from Boze, McKinney and Evans Law Firm out of Indianapolis and Barnes and Thomburg law firm of Fort Wayne for bonds both with and without a Bond Anticipation Note (BAN).
A second Fort Wayne resident has been charged in connection with the robbery of an Ossian bank last May.
Cameron Patterson, 28, is identified in federal court documents as “Suspect 3.” in the robbery. Dontae Travier, 29, was arrested last month. Both men are each charged with armed bank robbery and aiding in an armed bank robbery.
Bids were opened Tuesday afternoon by the Adams County Commissioners for a three-year lease of the 133 tillable acres of farmland owned by the county and located adjacent to County Road 200 E. Prior to opening the bids, Commissioner Kim Fruechte recused himself from the process due to familial connections to one of the bidders.
Richard E. Barger, 80, of Wells County, passed away Sunday, August 25, 2013, at Ossian Health Care.
Richard was born August 1, 1933, in Wells County to the late Orville Barger and Edith C. Bauman.
He married Marjorie M. (Bower) Wine on July 24, 1976, in Bluffton.
Richard was a member of Sonlight Wesleyan Church in Bluffton. He was a farmer and worked at Wayne Metal Company for 26 years.
Mary M. Harvey, 86, of Monroe, died on Sunday, August 25, 2013, at Adams Heritage Nursing Home in Monroeville.
Mary was born March 13, 1927, to the late Daniel D. and Dora G. (Bailey) Rhoades.
She married Donald H. Harvey on July 12, 1946.
Mary attended Monroe United Brethren Church. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and worked for Shaffer Glove Factory and Wayne Novelty.
