BHS structural issues defined

    Structural engineers hired by North Adams Community Schools to address wall stabilization issues and deficiencies at Bellmont High School presented their findings and recommendations to the school district's board of education during Tuesday evening's monthly board meeting. Those recommendations came with a $2 million price tag.

New judicial center, yes; where? Uh...

    The main topic of discussion at Tuesday's meeting of the courthouse project committee was the location of the proposed Adams County Judicial Center.
    Decatur native Cory Miller of SchenkelShultz Architecture, filling in for Dave Sholl, reminded the committee that it has so far agreed to a three-story plan—with the lowest story open to future expansion—, and the location choices have been narrowed down to Madison Street between Second and Third Street, or Third Street, north of where the superior court building is located.

Build trades class saved – Students will assist Habitat

    The building trades program at Adams Central High School, which has been dangling over the edge of existence for the past few months, has new life for the 2013-14 school year after partnering with the Habitat for Humanity (HFH) of Adams County to build a home on the south side of Berne.

Bellmont soccer gearing up for 20th season with reunion

    Ten years ago, Bellmont celebrated a decade of varsity soccer. Now, the program is an adult and it's time for the 20-year reunion. The date is Aug. 24 when the Braves host Delta in a 10 a.m. contest at the Bellmont Soccer Stadium.
    "I'd like to see a great turnout. I think that 10-year reunion was a huge success, and was the catalyst for that whole (sectional championship) season," stated the architect of Bellmont soccer, Dave Spaulding.
