Pauline Huppert

    Pauline C. “Polly” Huppert, 87, of Decatur, died Thursday, July 11, 2013, at Adams Memorial Hospital.
    Polly was born August 1, 1925, in Helena, Ark., to the late Paul B. and Virginia M. (Johnson) Collier.
    She married Fred R. Huppert on June 18, 1947; he preceded her in death in 1988.

Ned W. Liechty

    Ned W. Liechty, 62, Berne, died Wednesday in Adams Memorial Hospital.
    Among survivors are his wife, Geney Liechty of Berne; two sons, Nathan (Sheri) Liechty of Bluffton and Luke Liechty of Berne; and a daughter, Elizabeth Liechty of Berne.
    Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Sunday and 9:30-10:30 a.m. Monday at First Missionary Church. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the church. Burial will follow in MRE Cemetery in Berne.

Michael Razo

    Michael Razo, 46, of Decatur, died Wednesday, July 10, 2013, at Meadowvale Nursing Home in Bluffton.
    Mike was born on May 28, 1967, in Decatur to the late Genaro and Mary (Ortiz) Razo.
    Mike was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus Msgr. J.J. Seimetz Countil 864. He had worked for Bi-County Services for 25 years.

    Monroe vandals beware, Batman is on the case. Fed up a string of vandalism incidents waged against Monroe residents, town Marshall Dio Hernandez is now taking a different approach, one the vandals won't see coming.

Geneva firefighters eye bell memorial; tractor pull is off

    Fire Chief John Patch told the Geneva Town Council last week that the fire station has a bell which he would like to be made into a memorial and placed in front of the station. He suggested that it be about four square feet.
    Clerk-Treasurer Bill Warren noted that wheelchairs would have to be able to maneuver around it.
    Patch offered to present a drawing at next month's meeting, and the request was tabled.

Busse newest city officer

    As his mother, Jill, held the Bible, Decatur's newest police officer, Trent Busse, took the oath of office from city Clerk-Treasurer Phyllis Whitright this week.
    A 2009 graduate of Bellmont High School and a standout member of the school's state championship football team, Busse graduated last spring from Marian College in Indianapolis, having majored in business management and human resources.
