Beat the Pros Final Four locked in!!!

       The following is an updated list of the DDD Beat the Pros Challenge brackets. It's been a wild tournament to this point and Wichita State has continued the trend busting everyone's brackets. Indiana's early exit was also a breaking point for more than half of the field.

Beat the Pros Sweet 16 completed update

    The following is the updated results after the Sweet 16 round is completed as well as a breakdown of the brackets for each score. Bellmont Braves basketball coach John Baker is leading the field with 60 points with three of his Final Four teams left but Kansas, his national champion selection, is out leaving the field open still.

Revenue dips, but hospital’s still in black

    A financial statement released Wednesday night at the monthly meeting of the Adams Health Network's (AHN) Board of Trustee showed that despite a reduced revenue figure in February, Adams Memorial Hospital (AMH) officials still fashioned a positive bottom line to date this year, to the tune of $579,365.

Fugitive captured here after police traffic stop

    A Decatur man whom local authorities recently announced was a fugitive and sought public help in locating has been captured and is in the Adams County Jail.
    Jason R. Mathews, 29, N. Fourth Street, was caught after a foot chase on Wednesday and jailed on two counts of contempt of Adams Superior Court. He was initially held without bond.
    Mathews was wanted on two Adams County warrants for domestic battery and strangulation. He also has now been charged with invasion of privacy.

175 postcards in book now on sale at the Democrat

    Ron Storey, publisher of the Decatur Daily Democrat, has announced the arrival and sale of our newest book, “The Postcard Book,” a 96-page book featuring historic postcards from Adams County.
    The book was complied and designed for the Democrat by Max Miller of Decatur from a collection of over 175 postcards — all about Adams County — from the very early 1900s through today.

McIntire stepping down at hospital

    Several major changes in nursing personnel were announced Wednesday night at the monthly Board of Trustees meeting of the Adams Health Network (AHN).
    Hospital Director of Nursing Jo McIntire told the board the meeting would be the last one she attended in an official capacity as she plans to retire effective April 12.

Gough named nurses director

    Three new directors of nurses (DON) were announced at the Adams Health Network (AHN) board meeting Wednesday night, two involving AHN-owned nursing homes, and the other, a replacement for retiring Jo McIntire.
    Michelle Gough, a registered nurse who most recently worked at Parkview-Whitley Hospital in Columbia City, has been selected as McIntire's successor and will be on the job  this coming Monday as work works with McIntire to learn the ropes at AMH.

Two arrests made in Ohio slayings

    Mercer County Sheriff Jeff Grey announced in Celina, Ohio, on Wednesday that two arrests have been made in the November 2011 murders of Robert and Colleen Grube, who were found dead of apparent gunshot wounds in their rural Fort Recovery, Ohio, home.
    The sheriff said Bryant Rhoades, 22, of Union City, Ohio, was arrested at his residence just outside of Greenville, Ohio. He is currently charged with one count of obstructing justice, a felony of the third degree.

Dennis L. Kreisher

March 27, 2013

    Dennis L. Kreisher, 78, of Markle, passed away Monday, March 25, 2013, at the Markle Health and Rehabilitation Center.
    Dennis was born in Huntington to Henry E. and Ruby E. Kreisher.
    He married Billie Joan Gillingham; she preceded him in death. His second marriage was to Emilie A. Mason on January 4, 1974, at Markle United Methodist Church, and she survives.

Floyd I. McBride

    Floyd I. McBride, 79, of Decatur, passed away March 26, 2013.
    Floyd was the son of the late Lee Forrest McBride and the late Violet (Smitley) McBride.
    He married Rochelle L. (Jones) Smitley; she survives in Decatur.
