Former County Auditor Bill Borne was elected on Saturday as the new chairman of the Adams County Republican Party. Borne, a longtime GOP precinct committeeman, bested former county commissioner Steve Baumann in voting among Republican precinct committeemen and vice-committeemen.
Adams County Democrats reorganized on Saturday, with all sitting officers re-elected.
Handed new four-year terms were party chairwoman Barb Engle, vice chairman Mike Snyder, treasurer Judy Affolder and secretary Glenda Inniger.
Engle is a former member of Decatur City Council and previously served as a member of the Indiana General Assembly. Snyder is a union leader at Bunge Corp. and was a candidate last year for a seat in the Indiana House of Representatives.
Funeral services are pending at Haggard & Sefton Funeral Home for Frank Whitacre, longtime Decatur City Council representative who died Sunday morning.
Whitacre, 74, had been active in numerous civic causes as well as St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church.
Gertrude E. Dickerson, 97, Decatur, died Saturday.

Kathleen A. Mangine 64, of Fort Wayne, passed away Saturday March 2, 2013, at Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home in Fort Wayne.
Kathleen was born on November 1, 1948, to the late Marlow P. and Lillian “Annie” (Greiner) Schieferstein in Adams County.
Kathleen was a Customer Service Specialist for the Office of the President of A.T.& T. in Fort Wayne.
Frank A. Whitacre, 74, Decatur, died Sunday.

FORT WAYNE—Bellmont's girls track team finished third out of 14 teams in the indoor Fort Wayne Invitational - HSR Qualifier held Saturday at IPFW.
The showing by the Bellmont team, considered by many to be one of the stronger teams in northeast Indiana this spring, pleased Coach Carl Risch who noted "it was a pretty competitive meet and I think we finished pretty much where we were expected to be."
The Braves finished in 10th place in the field for the boys.
