Miriam Dalton, regional principal of the Crossing Alternative Campus, presented a report to the South Adams School Board on Tuesday night, with the help of senior Amanda Ineichen.
Dalton reported that there are currently 19 students enrolled in the alternative education program. During the first semester, 55 percent of the Crossing students received financial aid, attendance was 84.45 percent, and retention was 94.5percent. She said 52 credits were earned, with each student averaging 2 credits.
For the third year in a row, Adams Central junior Mason Call took first place — along with $300 — in the Bridge Building Contest held recently at IPFW's College of Engineering, Technology and Computer Science.
The AC Board of Education honored Call, along with Project Lead the Way (PLTW) teacher Jonathan Patterson, Tuesday for the innovative thinking Call has demonstrated in not only winning the event, but breaking long-standing records in the process.
Lunch prices for Adams Central students will increase beginning with the 2013-14 school year in order to meet the federal standards. The AC Board of Education approved the increase Tuesday.
Cost of lunch for elementary school students will go from $1.65 to $1.75, while lunch prices for middle and high school students will go from $1.80 to $1.90.
Superintendent Mike Pettibone noted that the increase is mandatory as schools must meet federal guidelines for school lunch prices, which is approximately $2.50.

Daniel J. Mills
Daniel J. Mills, 80, of Decatur, died Wednesday, March 13, 2013, at St. Joseph Hospital in Fort Wayne.
Dan was born on July 4, 1932, in Adams County to the late Robert L. and Harriet (Myers) Mills.
On August 1, 1967, he married Phyllis E. (Liby) Minch; she survives in Decatur.
