    Dwight L. "Whitey" Dailey, 81, Geneva, died Friday at Visiting Nurse Hospice Home in Fort Wayne.
    Among survivors are his wife; sons, Randy (Teresa) Dailey of Fort Wayne, Michael(Becky) Dailey of Goshen, Scott (Jill) Dailey of Amelia, Ohio; stepdaughter, Carol Lynne (Nicholas) Arthur of Pendleton; and stepson, William (Brenda) Stolz of Pennville.

Summer lunch program returns

    Erin Ripley, food service director for North Adams Community Schools (NACS), has announced that the school district has been approved for a fifth consecutive year to participate in the state-sponsored Summer Foodservice Program. 
    Ripley said the program provides an opportunity to continue a child’s physical and social development while providing nutritious meals. 

Budget approved, city tax rate set at .9772

    Decatur's property tax rate for 2013 will be .9772 cents on each $100 of assessed valuation now that the city's budget finally has been approved by the Indiana Department of Local Government Finance (DLGF).
    City Clerk-Treasurer Phyllis Whitright made the announcement at this week's city council meeting.
    The budget was approved as submitted, the DLGF making no changes.

Spotlight on Decatur held over weekend

    The spotlight was shining on numerous activities and local businesses on Saturday as Spotlight 2013 was held at Bellmont Middle School.
    Many of the usual popular activities were back, including bingo and the Rotary Club auction.
    Good crowds turned out for the annual event, which ran for nine and a half hours.

Squaws qualify for nine spots at IWU

    ANDERSON—Efforts in qualifying events the past two Saturdays have resulted in the powerful Bellmont girls track team qualifying athletes for nine of the 11 events at the state indoor track event this coming Saturday at Indiana Wesleyan University in Marion.
