Adams County Attorney Mark Burry reminded the commissioners this week that the date for compliance with the new Fertilizer Use Rule was February 16.
This rule will be enforced by the office of the Indiana chemist's office and affects operations who use more than 10 cubic yards of dry fertilizer or 4,000 gallons of liquid fertilizer per year. Its purpose is largely regulation of organic fertilizer usage, such as manure.
Free bingo sponsored by WZBD radio will officially kick off Spotlight 2013 on Saturday, March 9, at Bellmont Middle School.
The bingo will be held in the school, cafetorium, starting at 9, with participants playing for prizes donated by local businesses. WZBD's Al Converset will call the numbers, assisted by another member of the radio staff, Dave Nathan.
Gerald J. “Jerry” Martin, 91, of Decatur, passed away on Friday, February 22, 2013, at Woodcrest Nursing Center.
He was born on October 31, 1921, in Monroeville to the late Paul E. and Clara C. (Minnich) Martin.
Gerald married Anna Joyce Meyer on May 3, 1947, in St. Catherine of Alexandria Catholic Church - Nix Settlement; she survives.

MONROE—In the fourth installment of the Lakewood Park Christian/Adams Central rivalry and senior night for the Jets at the Hangar, it was the Panthers' Wes Davidson and Blake Mann who stole the show tallying 43 of LPC's 80 points in a rout of the Jets, 80-47.
Davidson and Mann did most of their work on the glass tallying 15 rebounds apiece (30 of the team's 44 boards) in Friday night's non-conference contest. Adams Central had only 17 rebounds in the game.
Indiana Gov. Mike Pence on Thursday continued to call for a 10 percent reduction in personal income tax rates, even as that proposal has seemingly stalled in the General Assembly.

Police said Alexandria R. (Lexy) Pharr, 23, 17th Street, Decatur, was on her way to work in Ossian and was westbound on C.R. 900N near C.R. 550W when her vehicle suddenly went left of center.
Alexandria R. "Lexy" Pharr, 23, of Decatur, passed away on Thursday, February 21, 2013, following an automobile accident on County Road 900 N in Adams County.
She was born on Monday, December 18, 1989, in Decatur, to Anthony "Tony" Pharr and Kristine (O'Campo) Smedley.
Lexy had been employed at Ossian Meats for the past several months. She was formerly employed by Bi-County Services in Berne and Ford Clutch Company, also in Berne.

Judith A. Ainsworth, 73, of Decatur, died on Tuesday, February 19, 2013, at Adams Memorial Hospital.
Judy was born on January 5, 1940, in Fort Wayne, to the late Robert E. and Bertha I. (Gibson) Lane.
She married Gayle E. Ainsworth on September 5, 1959; he survives in Decatur.
