The clock may be ticking towards a deadline for Adams County officials to make a decision about the future of a new county jail.
During a meeting Saturday morning in Decatur, State Rep. Matt Lehman, R-Berne, said sentencing reform legislation that could return low-level offenders back to individual counties for incarceration is working its way through the Indiana General Assembly.
Three days of events in Fort Wayne and South Bend will conclude at noon Friday with a funeral Mass at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, 1122 S. Clinton St., in Fort Wayne for Rev. John M. D’Arcy, retired bishop of the Diocese of Fort Wayne-South Bend, who died Sunday at the age of 80.
Diocesan officials said the three day will begin in South Bend on Wednesday D’Arcy’s body is transported to St. Matthew’s Cathedral, 1701 Miami St.

Notre Dame wide receiver John Goodman, a graduate of Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger High School, will be the honored guest at this Sunday's 43rd annual St. Joe Smoker at the Knights of Columbus pavilion.
Goodman played in 35 games for the Irish before winding up his career this season. The 6-3, 215-pounder will sign autographs at the St. Joe gymnasium from 12:30 to 1:30 Sunday.
