    Sandra J. (Blume) Allisbaugh, 53, Fort Wayne, passed away Saturday, Dec. 28, 2013, at St. Joseph Hospital.
    She was born Tuesday, Aug. 2, 1960, in Adams County, the daughter of the late Edward A. Blume and the late Patricia A. (Byrd) Agler. 
    Sandra served her country in the United States Army.
    She attended Broadway Christian Church in Fort Wayne where she was an active volunteer. She also attended Jubilee Ministries through LOVE, Inc. in Decatur.

    Josephine E. Baker, 94, Berne, died at 8:55 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 28, 2013, at Chalet Village in Berne.
    Arrangements are pending at Downing and Glancy Funeral Home, Geneva.

Corie I. Galloway

December 30, 2013

    Corie Ida Galloway, 63, Geneva, died at 12:05 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 28, 2013, at her residence.
    She was born Saturday, Sept. 9, 1950, in Maryland, the daughter of the late Frank and Almetta May Smith, Sr. She married James R. Galloway Sept. 25, 1973, in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii; he survives. 

Dale E. Harshman

    Dale E. Harshman, 59, Decatur, passed away Friday, Dec. 27, 2013, at Adams Memorial Hospital.
    Dale was born Aug. 1, 1954, in Bluffton, the son of the late Daniel E. and Anna V. Siemik. He married Kathleen M. Snyder Oct. 21, 1983; she survives.
    Dale was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church. He was a heavy equipment operator with Local Union 103. He was a hard working and dedicated husband and father. He loved spending time with his grandkids and was an aviation enthusiast and fisherman.

NEW YORK (AP) — The glitch-plagued rollout of President Barack Obama’s health care overhaul was the top news story of 2013, followed by the Boston Marathon bombing and the dramatic papal changeover at the Vatican, according to The Associated Press’ annual poll of U.S. editors and news directors.

New probation officer joins local staff

    Adams County Circuit Court Judge Chad E. Kukelhan, Superior Court Judge Patrick Miller and Chief Probation Officer Rhonda McIntosh on Friday welcomed Jack Odle as the county’s new juvenile probation officer, filling the vacancy left by Jean Franze, who resigned in November.

    MONROE— Apparently, football is not the only sport where inches matter.
Alex Byerly sank a game-tying three-pointer with six seconds to play against visiting Bellmont on Saturday night but had a small part of his heel on the sideline in the process and the shot did not count.
    The result was a Braves victory that seemed a lot closer than it could have been at the Hangar in Monroe, 58-54.
