The Adams County Substance Abuse Awareness Council has received in excess of $16,000 in state and federal grants for various materials and programs connected to drug prevention within the county, Executive Director Kelly Sickafoose reported to both the Adams County Commissioners and Adams County Councilors at their respective meetings earlier this week.
The grants were allocated for expenditures in four specific funds established by the Substance Abuse Awareness Council.
An official agreement between the city of Decatur and the Adams County Regional Sewer District setting the cost and terms of treatment of sewage collected by the fledgling rural sewer district will have to wait a little longer.

Robert Dale Morrissey, 91, Bluffton, passed away at 11:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2013, at Markle Health and Rehab Center.
He was born July 11, 1922, in Wells County, the son of the late Thomas Michael and Hattie Marie (Pruitt) Morrissey. He married Evelyn Haflich Feb.14, 1952, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bluffton. They shared in 61 years of marriage.
High-velocity, straight-line winds caused significant damage to the Bellmont High School gymnasium roof last month, members of the North Adams board of education were told at their regular monthly meeting Tuesday evening.
Ideas flowed freely — some of them possibly feasible, others likely less so — during a Decatur town hall-type meeting held Tuesday evening. Ruth M. Bolinger, 90, of Fort Wayne, died Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2013 at Parkview Regional Medical Center.
Ruth was born in Decatur Feb. 9, 1923, to the late Harmon M. and Leona (Harting) Gillig. On Aug. 17, 1946, she married Arthur T. Bolinger.
Ruth was a member of St. Therese Catholic Church in Fort Wayne. She was a homemaker.
Sarah Marie (Squeeky) Mendez, 81, of Decatur, died Dec. 8, 2013, at Adams Heritage Nursing Center in Monroeville.
Sarah was born Aug. 18, 1932, in Adams County to the late J. Carl and Ada (Hakes) Hower. On Sept. 6, 1947, she married Blas G. Mendez.
Sarah was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church. She was a member of the Daughters of American Revolution and V.F.W. Women’s Auxiliary. She worked for Thunderbird Products for 37 years.
