Geneva Town Marshal Rob Johnson updated town council members of the status of efforts to hire a new school resource officer for South Adams Schools at their regular monthly meeting Tuesday night in the town hall.
The Fort Wayne Philharmonic’s Holiday Pops Concert will once again make an appearance in Adams County this season with a performance Tuesday at South Adams High School in Berne beginning at 7 p.m.
The Adams County Courthouse was evacuated late Wednesday morning and remained closed for the rest of the day after a gas line near the rear of the building was ruptured. The evacuation was the second in Decatur in two weeks, coming on the heels of a Nov. 18 incident which saw residents of Master Drive and Mix and Lewis streets forced from their homes after a similar gas line mishap. See Page 2 for more on Wednesday’s evacuation.

BERNE— The Starfire swim squads defended their home pool on Tuesday night against county-rival Adams Central in a tight girls meet, 84-82, while the boys coasted to a 104-73 victory.
Despite their limited numbers this season, South Adams has been dominant in their individual events leaving the final numbers a bit misleading this season. The Lady Stars finally earned a “W” to go along with the excellent times against Central.

FORT WAYNE—The good news for the Bellmont Squaws basketball team Tuesday night was they didn't miss a single foul shot in their non-conference clash with the state's fifth-ranked Concordia Cadets.
Unfortunately, when there's good news, there's usually bad news as well and in this situation it was that the Squaws shot ZERO foul shots on the night with Concordia being whistled for only four common fouls in the game as the host Cadets breezed their way to an easy 50-20 decision over the Squaws.
