Anna B. Hisner, 88, Fort Wayne, went home to be with her Lord and Savior at 3:05 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2013, at Ashton Creek located in Fort Wayne.
Anna was born Friday, Sept. 4, 1925, in Mintonville, Ky., the daughter of the late Clifford C. and Bessie (Emerson) Cain. She married H. Parnell Hisner Jan. 4, 1948, in Indianapolis; and he survives.
Anna was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother.
Marilyn L. Gerig, 87, Berne, died Thursday, Dec. 26, at Adams Memorial Hospital.
She is survived by two sons, Darrell (Lynn) Gerig of Fort Wayne and Duane (Janet) Gerig of Knoxville, Tenn.; and a daughter, Dawn (Douglas) Kelsey of Cincinnatti, Ohio.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the West Missionary Church with Pastor Keith Rupp officiating.
Robert A. Lengerich, 88, Fort Wayne, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2013.
He was born in Decatur to the late August and Ellen Lengerich.
Robert retired as a technician from Rea Magnet Wire. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church of Fort Wayne. He proudly served in the United States Navy during WWII, was a member of the St. Vincent dePaul Society and volunteered at the Literacy Alliance.
Ernest D. Steiner, 90, Berne, died Thursday, Dec. 26, 2013, at Swiss Village.
He is survived by a sister, Minnie Mertz of Berne; and a brother, Victor Steiner of Berne
A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. Monday in the M.R.E. Cemetery in Berne with the Rev. Jerry Flueckiger officiating.
Arrangements are being handled by Downing & Glancy Funeral Home in Geneva.
Stephen R. Wood, 63, Berne, died Dec. 24, 2013, at his residence.
Stephen was born March 31, 1951, in Louisville, Ky. to the late Raymond and Agnes (Ford) Wood.
He retired from Courtesy Motors after 11 years of service. He served during the Vietnam War in the United States Army as a military police officer at Fort Knox, Ky. He was a member of American Legion Post 43.
The Adams County Commissioners at their meeting Monday afternoon approved a new salary contract for 2014 for Adams County Sheriff Shane Rekeweg. The minimum salary of $81,000 annually was established by the state and approved unanimously by the commissioners.
The commissioners also okayed an agreement that will allow Bauman to continue selling eggs from his family farm at a discounted rate to the sheriff’s department for consumption by inmates.
Christians around the world on Wednesday celebrated the birth of Jesus Christ, and now sights have been set on ringing in a new year in less than a week. The “angels” shown in the photo above were caroling on Christmas Eve outside the Cornerstone Church in Decatur.
