Commissioners set limit on hours that may be worked by part-time county employees

    Adams County Commissioner Ed Coil reported the establishment of criteria surrounding part-time employees and their exclusion from participation in the county’s health care program during Monday’s regular weekly meeting of the Adams County Commissioners.

Wellington C. "Bill" Snyder

    Wellington C. "Bill" Snyder, 84, Decatur, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2013, at Adams Woodcrest.
    He was born on Wednesday, Oct. 16, 1929, in Fort Wayne, to the late Peter D. and Gladys O. (Place) Snyder. He married his first wife, M. Helen Morehous on Aug. 16, 1950, she passed away on Oct. 11, 1991. He married Mary E. (Beer) Schindler on Feb. 19, 1993, she survives.

Squaws trump Eagles’ best effort, advance to semis

    MONROEVILLE—While crowd management was a big issue at Heritage on Thursday night, the Squaws quietly engaged a motivated Columbia City team in the opening round of sectionals managing a sweep in three sets 25-23, 26-24, 25-21.
    Bringing signs and an abundance of support for the team, students from Bellmont were forced to sit in the Eastbrook section of the gym due to Norwell fans hanging around to see their future opponent for tomorrow as they were the winners of the first match.

    Danny E. Wildman, 63, Little Rock, Kans., died Oct. 23, 2013.
    Among survivors are his wife, Mary Anne(Ouellette) Wildman; and a child, Sarah O. Wildman.
    Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. on Nov. 2, 2013 at the Unitarian Universalist Church, Little Rock.

FIGHTING BACK AGAINST METH

    The danger of “Meth in our Community” was the message presented Thursday by Sgt. Dan Mawhorr of the Indiana State Police during an informational session at Adams Memorial Hospital attended by more than 65 area residents and sponsored by the local Substance Abuse Awareness Council.
    Mawhorr noted that to date, “we haven’t seen much meth in Adams County,” but “it’s coming, and it’s gonna get worse.”

Keith Gerber named Patron Award winner

    Each year the Callithumpian Committee recognizes special service to the festival through its Patron Award. Keith Gerber, president and owner of Hoosier Pattern Inc., has been named the 2013 Callthumpian Patron Award recipient. 

Trial set in for 2014 in attempted murder case

A jury trial has been scheduled for Feb. 14, 2014, for a Berne woman facing charges of attempted murder and neglect of a dependent.

Ervin C. Christner

October 24, 2013

    Ervin C. Christner, 71, Berne, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2013, at his residence.
    He was born on May 25, 1942, in Adams County to the late Alvin S. and Caroline (Schwartz) Christner. He married Elizabeth M. Girod; she survives.
    Ervin was an Old Order Amish and a retired carpenter.
