Walter I. "Ike" Brodbeck, 91, Decatur, passed away Saturday, Oct. 19, 2013, at Woodcrest Nursing Center.
He was born on March 18, 1922, in Adams County to the late Clarence and Cora (Shell) Brodbeck.
Walter worked for the city of Decatur for 10 years before retiring in 1987. He also drove a truck for Farm Bureau for 18 years. Ike was a member of Cornerstone Community Church.
Bradley A. Combs, 52, died Monday, Oct. 21, 2013, at Hospice Home in Fort Wayne. Funeral Arrangements are pending at Haggard Sefton and Hirschy Funeral Home.
Thomas A. Craig, 77, Decatur, passed away Oct. 17, 2013, at Bluffton Regional Hospital.
He was born to the late Thurman and Frances (Allen) Craig on Jan. 30, 1936, in Richmond. He married Dixie Swan on June 20, 1954; she survives.
Anselm B. (Jack) Hackman, 85, Decatur, died Sunday, Oct. 20, 2013, at Woodcrest Nursing Center. Funeral Arrangements are pending at Haggard Sefton and Hirschy Funeral Home.
David N. Schirack, 59, Decatur, died Sunday, Oct. 20, 2013, at St. Mary Hospital in Saginaw, Mich. Arrangements are pending at Haggard Sefton and Hirschy Funeral Home.
The South Adams school board, meeting last week in regular session, approved the adoption of a Fire and Rescue Career and Technical Education pilot class for the 2014-15 school year. Geneva firefighter Art Booth had approached high school principal Trent Lehman last spring concerning the possibility of offering such a class through South Adams Schools, to be taught at the Geneva fire station.
The Adams Central High School Marching Band, known as The Squadron of Sound, is on its way to semi-state competition after receiving a gold rating Saturday at the Lafayette Jefferson regional contest. Woodlan and Bluffton also earned gold ratings at Lafayette and advanced to semi-state in Class D. The state marching band finals will be held Nov. 2 at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.
MARION—Three out of four Adams County teams entered in Saturday's IHSAA cross country regional tournament at Indiana Wesleyan University survived to run another day and will move on to the semi-state competition at The Plex in Fort Wayne this Saturday.
