    Tonight is Senior Night at the Teepee as the Squaws host the Norwell Lady Knights on the volleyball court. Pigskin Picks, week four results

   Despite the fact that not one bracket was flawless, Sondra Anweiler was the only contestant in this week's Pigskin Picks contest to get only one game wrong and is the winner. Virginia Haugk and Timothy Anweiler finished 2nd in the results winning prizes as well with just two wrong. This week's tie-break score was 53 points and the full results including celebrity fans are as follows:

COMMUNITY MARKET NO MORE

 The former Community Markets in Decatur got a new sign, and a new store philosophy, on Monday.  The market, now called Sack & Save, has pared down its inventory to feature only the most popular consumer items and now reportedly has a bag-your-own policy. The Berne Community Market was not part of the change.

Eichhorn due in court Thursday

    Former Decatur Storm Water Management Director Joan Eichhorn is scheduled to make an appearance in Adams County Circuit Court at 2 p.m. Thursday for a change of plea/sentencing hearing.    
    The former city employee is expected at that time to accept or reject a plea bargain agreement reportedly negotiated by the county prosecutor and Eichhorn's attorneys.

NERD DAY AT BHS

Homecoming Spirit days are being held this week at Bellmont High School, and Monday was Nerd Day. Talking part in the activities were, from left, Jessah Okoniewski, Jordan Rumschlag, Chloe Mock, Bailee Hankenson and Kirsten Winter.

Baumer, Lady Jets dump Norwell in Hangar sweep

    MONROE — Adams Central sophomore middle hitter Jenni Baumer followed a huge block with a shot right down the middle to squash a Norwell rally, sewing up the second set 25-23 in a three-game sweep for the Lady Jets Monday night at the Hangar.
    A passing error by the Jets helped Norwell tie the set at 23-all, the fourth tie in the later stages of the set. Central returned a Rylee Werling serve, but Norwell could not come get it back over to lose the next key point, setting up Baumer's middle power surge to end the key game.

Lisa Case

October 1, 2013

    Lisa Case, 55, of Decatur, died on Saturday, Sept. 28, 2013, at her residence surrounded by family and friends. Lisa was born on March 4, 1958 in Decatur to Bud E. Case and the late Carolyn S. (Meyer) Case.
    Lisa wasa member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church and the Women of St. Mary. She graduated from Bellmont High School in 1976. She worked for Fleetwood Service as a Tech for over 30 years.

Gregory L. Drake

    Gregory L. Drake, 62, Berne, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 1 at his home. Arrangements are pending at Yager-Kirchhofer Funeral Home.

Jonas J. Graber

October 1, 2013

    Jonas J. Graber, Sr., 69, of rural Geneva passed away in his home at 11:05 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2013. He was born on Feb. 26, 1944, in Adams County to the late Jonas and Margaret (Schwartz) Graber. He married Mattie Lambright on March 31, 1966. She survives.
    Jonas was an Old Order Amish and was Bishop of the East Church. He was a carpenter.

John P. McAhren

October 1, 2013

    John Paul McAhren, 72, Bakersfield, Calif., entered Heaven's gates to be with his Savior on Sept. 20, 2013.
    John was born in Fort Wayne on Dec. 28, 1940 to the late Paul and Geraldine (Parrish) McAhren. John married Joyce (Daniels) on Oct. 19, 1961 and she survives.
    John graduated from Decatur High School in 1959 and continued on to receive an undergraduate from Fort Wayne Bible College and a masters degree from Huntington University.
