KINGSLAND— The Squaws wrangled in their fourth sectional title in Bellmont's school history on Saturday when they defeated South Side 1-0 at Norwell.
The lone score came 20 minutes into the game off a direct kick near the right corner from Bailey Beery. Ryann Velez made a run directly in front of the goalie and headed the ball forward and it was rainbowed over the goalie's outstretched hands. While still up for grabs, Ashley Hamrick redirected the ball into the back of the net with her head as well.
More than a dozen volunteers showed up around dawn Saturday to help Decatur resident George Craig enhance the curb appeal of his aging home. The echoing motivation was simple; those who gathered at the intersection of 2nd and Jackson streets on Saturday simply wanted to lend a helping hand.

At a recent reunion held by the Decatur High School Class of 1963, funds were raised during a silent auction to contribute a tree, a brick and a general contribution to the Storybook Park in downtown Decatur.
The Bellmont boys and girls soccer teams each claimed sectional tournament wins over the weekend and will begin regional play later this week. The Squaws will square off against DeKalb in the East Noble regional on Wednesday , while the boys play Canterbury in the Carroll regional opener on Thursday.
