Clyde B. Augsburger

    Clyde B. Augsburger, 86, of Berne, died Tuesday at Swiss Village in Berne.
    Among survivors are his wife, Shirley; three daughters, Sue (David) Collins of Cincinnati, Ohio, Sally (Roland) DeRenzo of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Pamela (Lonnie) Evans of Alpharetta, Ga.
    Visitation will be from 12:30-2 p.m. on Saturday at the Swiss Village Chapel. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. at the chapel. Burial will be in MRECemetery in Berne.
  

Doris A. (Affolder) Zinn

    Doris A. (Affolder) Zinn, 89, Bluffton, formerly of Decatur, died on January 14, 2013, at Christian Care Retirement Community in Bluffton.
    Doris was born March 29, 1923, in Adams County to the late Lawrence and Goldie E. (Graham) Diehl.
    Her first husband was former Adams County sheriff Merle Affolder, who preceded her in death on September 10, 1992. She then married James Howard Zinn, who preceded her in death on June 22, 2000.
    Doris worked for CTS in Berne in Quality Control.

Getting back to normalcy

    All highways and streets are open, the St. Marys River continues to recede and Decatur residents are mostly back to normal today after one of the worst flooding episodes in the city's history.
    City weather station officials said this morning that the river had fallen to 19.44 feet, nearly four feet under its Monday night crest of 23.31 feet and a drop of nearly two feet from Wednesday morning's reading of 21.37 feet.

    Adams County Crimestoppers is is asking for the public’s assistance in locating Julian DeAngelo Hart, 27, who faces several charges here and in Allen County.
    According to a news release, on December 7, 2011, Hart allegedly entered Innovative Concepts in Decatur and attempted to purchase merchandise using a fraudulent check.  As police were responding to the scene, Hart fled and led police on a high-speed vehicle pursuit through Decatur, the Crime Stoppers report said.

Nature Swag: Wildlife rules Fridays at AC

    Walking the halls of Adams Central School on any given Friday may seem to be a bit of a zoo. More so than usual because every Friday 17 boys (and counting) can be seen sporting their wildlife shirts.
    These vibrant tops are printed front-to-back with images of eagles, wolves, or bears, the animals that have inspired the group to refer to themselves as "Nature Swag" whenever they wear the shirts.

Jets seek to even score on ACAC mat

    Adams Central started the ACAC campaign with a narrow loss to Leo, but the 1A state champion Jets can get a share of the loop crown by taking care of business at Saturday's tourney at South Adams.
    The Jets have four top seeds, two seconds and 12 overall to the three firsts, three seconds and 10 overall of Leo. South Adams, also a contender, has three top seeds and three seconds with nine overall seeds.
    The Jets are defending champs, having won both the dual meet season and tourney a year ago.
