It's been said all along that without everyone on board, a new city-county building in Decatur likely wouldn't happen.
At Thursday's meeting attended by a number of city and county officials, two of the three Adams County commissioners expressed opposition, but one offered a possible alternative.
Commissioner Doug Bauman said the antiquated superior court building "needs work beyond what we can afford to fix."
FORT WAYNE—In the second semi-final matchup in the ACAC tournament on Thursday night, the South Adams Starfires went up against the shot-happy Leo Lions and had their best offensive game of the season while shooting 54% from the field on the night.
The only problem was that Leo also shot 50% and hit 13 three pointers on their way to a 105-80 rout of the Stars in front of the Coliseum crowd of ACAC faithfuls who showed up despite the icy conditions.
Playing what coach Andy Heim called "our best game of the year," the Bellmont Squaws led the entire way with the exception of a 10-10 tie, and easily knocked off Fort Wayne North Side 60-41 in non-conference girls varsity action at the Teepee.
"When we work to get good shots, we can be a successful team," Heim noted in reviewing the 50 percent shooting the Squaws had in the game while they held North Side to 12-47 or just over 25 percent.
Officials at North Adams Community Schools are looking into the "renovation or replacement" of facilities at Bob Worthman Stadium, according to a report given to school board members Tuesday.
The Decatur area was under a winter weather advisory this morning, with some slight snow accumulation expected today and one to three inches tonight. The other half of the one-two punch is much colder temperatures.
The National Weather Service says an approaching winter storm could drop more than a foot of snow on far northern Indiana and bring wind-whipped blowing and drifting snow, The Associated Press reported.
