Larry L. Uhick, 62, of Wolcottville, Ind., a former Berne resident, passed away on February 4, 2012, at his home.
He was born to Elmer and the late Norma Jean (Swygart) Uhrick on June 14, 1949, in Adams County.
He is survived by his wife, Jane (Neuenschwander), whom he married on August 15, 1970.
Wilma Louise Brown, 81, of Rockford, Ohio, for the past 2 1/2 years, passed away at 2 a.m. on Sunday, February 5, 2012, in the Colonial Nursing Home in Rockford.
Louise was a longtime resident of Willshire, Ohio.
Louise was born on Friday, January 30, 1931, in Adams County, the daughter of the late Oscar and Hila May (Slusser) Miller.
Mary Ann Ewell, 83, of Preble, passed away at 7:14 a.m. on Saturday, February 4, 2012, in St. Joseph Hospital in Fort Wayne. Her death resulted from injuries sustained in a kitchen fire two weeks before.
Mary was born on Tuesday, February 28, 1928, in Salmonier, Newfoundland, Canada, the daughter of the late Patrick and Gertrude (Snow) Bennett.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (AP) — The Department of Defense is planning a mission change for Indiana Air National Guard’s 122nd Fighter Wing in Fort Wayne.
The Journal Gazette reports the wing’s A-10 jets will be replaced by MC-12 aircraft, a medium- to low-altitude, twin-engine turboprop aircraft with a primary mission is providing intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance support directly to ground forces.
PORTLAND—South Adams claimed two first place finishes in the preliminary round of the IHSAA girls swimming sectional Thursday night at Jay County High School, but the Bellmont Squaws finished the night by advancing 11 swimmers to the final round on Saturday.
No team score is kept during the preliminary round as teams battle to whittle the field down to a consolation and championship round on Saturday. The top eight finishers in each event will go to the championship round while those placing 9-16 swim for consolation points.
Frank Fuentes, 91, of Decatur, died Thursday in the Woodcrest Nursing Center.
He was born toElizabeth, New Jersey.
Among survivors are his wife, Adeline M. Fuentes, Decatur; daughters Georgiana Fuentes of Jasper, Ala.; Barbara (Ivan) Decker, of Fort Wayne; and Frances (John) Binkley, of Fort Wayne.
Friends will be received from 9-10 a.m. Saturday in the Woodcrest - Porter Auditorium. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in the auditorium.
Ed Coil, who was born in Ohio and spent the bulk of his professional career in Fort Wayne and Detroit before becoming bringing his numerable talents to Adams County, was bestowed with the Decatur Chamber of Commerce's greatest honor on Thursday evening as the 23rd recipient of its Stephen Decatur Award.
The award, presented annually since 1988 for lifetime achievement and contributions to the local community, was one of several handed out at the chamber's annual dinner meeting held at the Knights of Columbus pavilion.
First Bank of Berne has deep roots in Adams County, dating back to 1891 when the financial institution was established in Berne.
And while its roots in Decatur are less deep, dating back "only" to 1995, the bank was honored Thursday night as the Decatur Chamber of Commerce's Large Business of 2011 during the chamber's annual membership dinner.
Democrat Fred Schurger has announced his candidacy for re-election as judge of Adams Circuit Court.
He is the second announced candidate for the position. Republican Chad Kukelhan had previously announced his intentions to seek the judgeship.
Schurger graduated from Decatur Catholic High School and obtained his bachelor's degree from Wabash College, then earned his juris doctor degree from Indiana University Law School, graduating cum laude.
