Stating that the court system in Adams County is "rock solid" in its goal of delivering fair and impartial justice to county residents, Superior Court Judge Patrick Miller said Monday there nonetheless are issues that "cannot be ignored" regarding court facilities and the safety of those who visit the sites.
Acting upon the recommendation of the state auditor's office, Berne City Council changed its process for the purchase of two discharge pumps for the city's waste water treatment plant. And the move ended up saving the city a substantial sum of money.

Bellmont High School senior Brian Hakes has been named to the all-city hockey team by the Fort Wayne Area High School Hockey Association. Hakes, who plays for Bishop Dwenger, was one of two players selected to the first-team defense in voting by the league's coaches. He also was chosen an all-city defenseman last year when the team represented Fort Wayne North Side.
The BMS Braves wrestled in the Northeast Hoosier Middle Level Conference tournament last Thursday night. The Braves found themselves in first place by night's end with nine first placers, four seconds, two thirds, and four fourths.
The team dominated as they scored 443 points compared to Indian Springs' 312.5 points in second place. Carroll finished third with 247 points and DeKalb had 219 good enough for fourth. Maple Creek, Woodside, East Noble, Summit, New Haven, and then Norwell rounded off the final places.

ANDERSON — Bellmont junior sprinter Alexis Harvey earned a shot at the Indiana Girls Track Indoor State Finals with a school record 7.39 in the 55-meter dash Saturday in the annual Patriot Invitational at Anderson College as she qualified first out of that meet.
Harvey will be seeded fourth overall in the small school division. She placed fourth last spring in the IHSAA State Girls Track and Field 200 meter (outdoor) finals.
Elizabeth J. "Betty" Grogg Schmidt, 83, Mendon, Ohio, died Thursday.
She was born in Geneva.
Among survivors are her husband, Bennett "Ben" Schmidt of Mendon; brother Thomas (Jo) Grogg of Geneva; and sister Mary Ann (Jim) Bailey of Geneva.
Visitation will be at the Mendon Funeral Home from 2-7 today. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m on Sunday. Burial will be in Mendon Cemetery.
Allen R. Wolf, 48, formerly of Decatur, died Wednesday.
Among survivors are a sister, Jean (Jr.) Kahn of Decatur.
Visitation will be on Sunday, March 11, from 2-4 p.m., at Golden Meadows Chapel. Burial will be in I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Leitersford, Ind., at a later date.

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Indiana lawmakers ended their 2012 legislative session early Saturday after racing through a sprawling education and spending plan.
The last measure they approved this year is a plan that pays $6 million to state fair victims and $80 million for full-day kindergarten, and puts more money for state reserves before an automatic tax refund is triggered. It also changes the rules governing Indiana's charter schools and officials tasked with turning faltering schools around.
Ronald L. Dynes, 76, of Monroe, died Monday at Woodcrest Retirement Center.
