Lew E. Heiser, 70, of Decatur, passed away Monday, April 2, 2012, at his residence.
He was born in Allen County on July 20, 1941, to the late Ray E. and Pansey (Biggs) Heiser.
Lew worked for Schwartz Ford and McDonald's.
Among survivors are his brother, Howard D. (Patricia) Heiser; brother-in-law Ted Douglas; several nieces and nephews; and friend Mike Harmon of Decatur.
Jane Ann Zander, 88, of Decatur, died Wednesdayin Lutheran Life Villages, Fort Wayne.
Among survivors are her son, Ralph Zander of Decatur.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard G. Zander.
Visitation will be Monday, April 9, 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., at Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, and one hour prior to services Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church, Decatur.
Burial will be in Decatur Cemetery.
The Decatur Baseball Association's field cleanup date has been switched from this week to Saturday, April 14, at 8 a.m., it was noted by league president Jim Hopkins. The various league slate will be out in a few days.
Official opening Day for Decatur Baseball will be Saturday, May 5. Team pictures will be taken that day.
The Bellmont girls track team scored first place finishes in 11 of the 16 events Thursday night at Bob Worthman Stadium but saw victory elude them by seven points as Jay County captured a triangular meet with 75 points while the Squaws had 68 and Adams Central was third with 21.
"It's hard to believe we won that many events but lost the meet," concluded BHS coach Carl Risch, adding that Jay County won the meet with its depth.

Two candidates have thrown their names into the hat to serve as the District 2 (rural) appointee to the North Adams School Board.
Root Township Trustee Dan Bieberich reports that resumes were received from Michelle Stimpson, who currently holds the seat, and from former board member Juan Gutierrez.
The candidates will be interviewed at 7 p.m. on April 12 at the Union Township hall. The successful candidate will serve a full four-year term on the board.
Slowly, but surely, the 100-year-old former Pennsylvania Railroad depot off Seventh St., near Monroe St., is coming ever closer to being ready for occupancy.
Mayor John Schultz said at Tuesday night's city council meeting that the plan commission has awarded a contract to Rorick Electric to install a new furnace (for heat and air conditioning) in the building at a cost of $5,150. In addition, Tim Ulman has been hired to power wash the basement.
Phillis M. Hunter, 87, Bluffton, died Wednesday in Bluffton Regional Medical Center.
Among survivors are her husband, John “Jack” Hunter.
Phillis was a beautician in Decatur and Bluffton for 55 years.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Thoma/Rich, Chaney & Lemler Funeral Home in Bluffton. Burial will follow in Six Mile Cemetery. Friends may call from 3-7 p.m. Friday and one hour prior to services.
The Decatur Ministers Association announced on Tuesday afternoon that a community Good Friday service will begin at 1 p.m. Friday at the Church of God, 1129 Mercer, Ave., in Decatur.
The service is open to the public.
Donna Y. Lloyd, 75, of Berne, formerly of Geneva, died Wednesday in Adams Memorial Hospital.
Among survivors are her son, John B. (Rose) Lloyd of Berne; and daughter, Theresa Vance of Bryant.
A memorial service will be held at a later date .
Arrangements were made by Walker and Glancy Funeral Home, Montpelier.
Carole A. Waltmire, 71, of Decatur, passed away on Tuesday, April 3, 2012, at Adams Memorial Hospital.
She was born on Tuesday, June 18, 1940, in Monroeville, the daughter of the late Olen A. and Ruth M. (Johnson) Murchland.
She married Russell E. Waltmire on August 9, 1958, in Monroeville; he survives.
Carole retired in 1984 from Central Soya.
