INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Gov. Mitch Daniels on Friday named a Tippecanoe County judge as the first woman on the bench of the Indiana Supreme Court in 13 years.
The appointment of Loretta Rush ends Indiana’s distinction as one of only three states will all-male high courts, and makes Rush Indiana’s first female justice since Myra Selby stepped down in 1999.
A scarcity of substitute school bus drivers was noted at this week's meeting of the North Adams School Board.
Business Manager Larry Carty said it is difficult to get trained subs and this is not a problem that exists just within the North Adams community. He noted that North Adams absorbed three former sub drivers into regular routes this year depleting the supply of subs.
It's a difficult achievement for a student to score a perfect mark on the ISTEP mathematics test or the English/language arts test that are taken every spring across Indiana.
As North Adams Community Schools officials pointed out at Tuesday night's school board meeting, a school may go several years in between having a perfect score.
The South Adams School Corporation's acceptance of a bid by CDI Development Services in the amount of $747,400 for the purchase of the former elementary school property does not necessarily mean that the agreement is a "done deal."
