Braves take fourth in DeKalb Invite

    WATERLOO—The Bellmont boys tennis team ventured to DeKalb High School for an eight-team tennis invitational Saturday in what would end up being their first true test of the season.
    The Braves ended up fourth as a team with feelings that they, "could have done better," according to Bellmont coach Joe Selking.

More school-board filings seen

    Several slots have been filled by candidates seeking spots on the North Adams, Adams Central and South Adams school board. But with the filing deadline but a short time away, some seats remained without candidates to fill them.

Chinese duo in city visit

    Two businessmen from China toured Decatur and Adams County this week.
     Decatur Mayor John Schultz and Adams County Economic Development Director Larry Macklin said the visit is another positive result from a trade mission to China in June by Schultz and Macklin as part of an Indiana contingent led by  Lt. Governor Becky Skillman and Northeast Indiana Regional Partnership CEO John Sampson.

New tax targets local hospital

    Back in June, Adams Health Network (AHN) President and Chief Executive Officer Tom Nordwick discussed a looming situation that was going to have a negative effect on the financial picture of the network.
    Nordwick told the five members of the AHN Board of Trustees at their monthly meeting Wednesday that the bullet aimed at Adams Memorial Hospital (AMH) could conceivably do more damage than initially thought as a hospital bed tax passed by the Indiana General Assembly could cost the hospital up to $1.2 million per year.
