Courtesy Motors has earned the right to be in tonight's Sandy Koufax League championship game thanks to a lopsided 12-2 victory over a feisty Monroe Harvestland squad last night.
The Adams County Regional Sewer District board of directors on Tuesday appointed a subcommittee charged with the task of negotiating with the city of Decatur the rates that will be charged to county residents whose sewage ultimately will be sent to Decatur for treatment.
Citing family illness reasons, Don Elder has submitted his resignation from the North Adams school board. The surprise announcement came at the end of Tuesday night's regular monthly board meeting.
Elder was appointed exactly one year ago to what has commonly been called the "swing" seat on the board. Representation for that seat alternates every four years between residents of the city of Decatur and rural residents.
After hours of discussion and consideration at public meetings and work sessions over a period of two months, the South Adams Schools Board denied a request by Pastor Mo Hodge to use the school facility in Berne as an extension of The Bridge Community Church's Decatur campus. Nearly 50 people packed the choir room at Tuesday's meeting to hear the board's decision.
Ernest Frederick Fennig, 90, of Berne, died on July 8, 2012.
Among survivors are his wife, Florine Fennig, and sons, Jeffrey Fennig (Paula) and Joel Fennig.
Visitation will be on Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. at Swiss Village, Berne. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, also at Swiss Village.
Adrian B. Sprunger, 82, died on July 7, 2012, at Good Shepherd Hospice in Auburndale, Florida.
Adrian was born on December 13, 1929, in Berne, to the late Noah and Amelia (Badertscher) Sprunger.
On June 10, 1950, he married the former Mary Lou Barger.
Keturah M. Wickey, seven weeksold, died Tuesday at Riley Hospital, Indianapolis.
Among survivors are her parents, Leroy M. and Josi D. (Schwartz) Wickey of Monroe.
Visitation will be today from 1-8 p.m. and on Thursday from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Wickey residence, 2406 S. Salem Rd, Monroe. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 1 p.m., also at the Wickey residence.
Arrangements were by Yager-Kirchhofer Funeral Home.

Alberta E. Schaper, 87, of Decatur, passed away Sunday, July 8, 2012, at Woodcrest Retirement Community.
Born in New Haven, she was the daughter of the late Herman and Hortense Fiedler.
