Dorothy Bixler, 96, of Decatur, passed away on Saturday, June 2, 2012, at her residence.
She was born on Tuesday, April 4, 1916, in Adams County, the daughter of the late Lawrence J. and Anna (Bultemeier) Heckman.
She married Roy Bixler on October 18, 1947, in Adams County; he passed away on June 5, 2010.
Dorothy was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Bingen, where she was active in the Ladies Guild. She was also a past president of General Electric's Elex Club.
Mary Ann Miller, 73, rural Decatur, died Sunday at her residence.
Arrangements are pending at Haggard-Sefton & Hirschy Funeral Home.
Walter E.L. Schwartz, 16, Monroe, died on Wednesday, May 30, 2012, due to a construction accident.
He was born to Walter L. and the late Elma Schwartz on April 7, 1996, in Adams County.
He is survived by his father, Walter L. Schwartz; three sisters, Arlene E.L.; Lorene E.L.; and Darlene E.L. Schwartz, all of Monroe; and a brother, Roman E.L. Schwartz, Monroe.
Visitation is from 3-8 p.m. today and from 9 a.m.-8 p.m. on Saturday at the Ben V. Schwartz residence, 50 S 502 W, Monroe.
It was a picture perfect day, with lots of sunshine and pleasant temperatures, as Adams County's three high schools passed out diplomas to around 350 students on Sunday — Graduation Day!
Smiles were everywhere and the cheers and whistles were plentiful, too, as three gymnasiums held spectators wishing to offer congratulations to their favorite students.
All three held ceremonies beginning at 2 p.m.
The Decatur Farmers Market will begin its fourth season next Thursday and for the second year in a row will be located at Riverside Center, where ample parking is available for vendors, Chamber of Commerce officials have announced.
The hours will remain the same as last year, with the market opening at 3:30 p.m. and continuing until 6:30.
Participants provide their own tables and covering, if desired, and there is no fee for vendors.
Parks and Recreation Department Superintendent Steve Krull recently presented a five-year master plan for the city and county park systems to Adams County Council.
In his report, Krull stated that the process has been over a year in the making and was a joint effort between the city and county park departments.

Adams Central softball teams had NEVER won either tournament in the history of the IHSAA softball post-season play. So the team that was 6-11 at mid-season put on a surge of epic proportions in May and ended up with both titles.
