WASHINGTON (AP) — The Supreme Court on Thursday upheld the individual insurance requirement at the heart of President Barack Obama’s historic health care overhaul.
Ray O. Brown, 77, of Berne, died at his residence on Friday, June 22, 2012.
He was born on August 22, 1934, in Kalamazoo, Michigan, to the late Orlan W. and Laure (Sovine) Brown.
Ray served in the United States Navy for 20 years. He was a member of the American Legion Post 468 in Berne, and VFW Post 6236 in Decatur.
It was a case of the proverbial good news vs. bad news delivered to members of the Adams Health Network Board of Trustees at their monthly meeting on Wednesday night.
In discussing the financial situation of the hospital, Chief Financial Officer Dane Wheeler gave board members the good news first: Hospital officials recently completed a cost settlement report for Medicare which should net the hospital approximately $759,000 in Medicare money. But it is not known when the dollars will be deposited in AHN coffers.
Geneva has become the latest Adams County community to ban the use of personal fireworks, joining Decatur and Berne.
The announcement this morning was made by Clerk-Treasurer Bill Warren.
However, the public fireworks display scheduled for Saturday at the town's ball diamond.will be held, the announcement said. The Geneva Volunteer Fire Department will wet down the area prior to the fireworks and be on site during the display, it was noted.
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Record-breaking heat is headed to parts of Indiana on Thursday and could combine with low humidity and winds gusting up to 30 mph could combine to create combustible conditions, the National Weather Service says.
MONROE—Hunter Lotter finished a brilliant performance on the mound for the Bank of Geneva Tuesday night in the Monroe Little League tournament at Don Ray Field by working out of a bases loaded situation and the Bankers snared a 9-6 win over the Brickhouse.
Lotter, who got 16 of the 18 Brickie outs via strikeout route, whiffed the final two batters of the game with the sacks loaded. His teammates had just scored four runs in the bottom of the fifth to reclaim the lead in the game.
