Man in court here has 30 felonies

    A Farmland, Indiana, man who was recently sentenced in Adams County Circuit Court to 15 years in an Indiana prison has a long criminal history, according to Adams County Prosecutor Christopher E. Harvey.
    On May 25, Roy V. Wells, 64, pleaded guilty in Adams Circuit Court to burglary.
    According to court information, on May 20, 2011, a rural Adams County family returned home to discover someone had broken into their home and two large containers of coins were missing.

Noonan, Blythe lead BHS class

    Diplomas will be awarded to graduating seniors at Bellmont High School during commencement ceremonies scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday  in the BHS gymnasium.
    Finishing as the top-ranked senior in this year’s graduating class was Valedictorian Amanda Noonan.
    Noonan received the ACCF Lilly Finalist Scholarship, Detter Scholarship, Elson Scholarship, Don Ray Scholarship, Ivy Tech Scholarship, and Niblick Achievement Scholarship awards this year.

NAdams honors retiring 8

    North Adams Community Schools recently held an Open House at the administration building to honor the retirement of eight employees, according to a news release.
    The longest standing employee is bus driver Roger Fuelling, who spent 48 years with North Adams, having started at the age 22. 
    Another bus driver, Gerry Simons, is retiring after 41 years.

Walter E.L. Schwartz

    Walter E.L. Schwartz, 16, Monroe, died on Wednesday, May 30, 2012, due to a construction accident.
    He was born to Walter L. and the late Elma Schwartz on April 7, 1996, in Adams County.
    He is survived by his father, Walter L. Schwartz; three sisters, Arlene E.L.; Lorene E.L.; and Darlene E.L. Schwartz, all of Monroe; and a brother, Roman E.L. Schwartz, Monroe.
    Visitation is from 3-8 p.m. today and from 9 a.m.-8 p.m. on Saturday at the Ben V. Schwartz residence, 50 S 502 W, Monroe.
